I signed my sister up a while ago and both her and I are getting hammered with spam calls from 778 area code numbers from Vancouver. It's the same thing - Chinese jibberish. I block the number every time but it's relentless.
I don't know anyone else having this problem except public mobile customers.
What gives here??

Ok. Here is how I deal with them.
If you answer.....ask "Does your mother know what you do for a job"....they always hang up.
Secondly I have the best ever contacts list of friends, family, enemies, lovers, ex lovers, businesses etc. Then on my iPhone I set up do not disturb be be on 24/7/365 and to only allow phone to ring if the calling number is in my contacts list. And if the caller is not in my list and calls 2 times in 3 minutes my phone will ring. So of course, some but not all, unwanted calls my go to your voice mail. And our voicemail very clearly asks to leave name, number and message just in case the caller "should be" in our contacts list. From there, decide if you want to listen to the voicemails, block the callers from your recents list or block any of the callers that are in your contacts list. Keep in mind that the name on a call in your recents usually comes from your contacts list.
It's a lot of work and takes awhile to get there...but worth it....and not having to expect the Telco to control it for you.
Some numbers are spoofed and some are not....bottom line.....you don't have to "live with it" as others say. Numbers are generally spoofed for about a week and they find another one to use...it is very easy to do. Often they use one in your area and only call numbers in your area to kind of trick you to answer.
And changing your number .... don't bother ... it will still happen.
And don't bother with the CTRC Do Not Call list as the spoofers don't care!!

@jGil189 poring number won't work. Those scammers are using the tricks of Caller ID Spoofing, they will keep using random numbers. Your blocked number list will get bigger and bigger and that does not mean you can those calls
Don't waste time blocking the numbers

same here and block those numbers. the problem not for PM user only.

No point of blocking numbers as they are all spoofed.
Unfortunately you have to learn to live with that crap.

@jGil189 did you get a new number or you ported in your number?
if you got a new number, maybe you should pick a different one (but keep in mind, there is no way to get rid of the spam calls completely)
To get a new number, please login to My Account, go to Profile page: and click Change Phone Number
