Koodo doesn't want me on the $30 plan, only $35.

Dear Koodo. Thank you for calling in the AM to wake me up with good news about switching to Koodo for $35... however at my next renewal my plan is changing over to the $30 plan, and you are unable to compete with that offer because your system is designed to only offer 1 specific plan per person and wont offer the other plan despite before, and after speaking to me you are offering a $30 switch deal to other people.

I guess you don't actually want me to switch. Otherwise you would offer me, what you are offering others. If you change your mind, let me know..... preferably in the afternoon.

I kinda see why some consumers think bigger is better, and don't mind paying 20% more for what they 'perceive' as better value. ie: more data for example

The thing I am trying to convince one friend of now, is to actually look at his data use over the last 90 days on either his freedom and fido plans (don't ask why he has two, please! ), and then to compare what a PM plan would cost him to give the same data allotment over 90 days.

The 90 day 'bucket' is absolutely what sets PM apart from other post paid choices, in my opinion. That bucket is what keeps me at PM. If I looked at 'peak demand' in a one month period, I might feel inclined to pay the 20% more, and go to Koodo. But knowing that 90 days equalizes the peaks.... I save the money, and stay with PM. PM still has a way lower cost per customer dollar in revenue compared to the post paids, and so, I like it that that benefit accrues to me.

The house always wins. Telus knows how the typical customer thinks, and hopes they can woo some PM subscribers over to Koodo with the 'extra data'. But unutilized data turns into the extra revenue for Telus that they as the 'house' are anticipating.

I'm a PM newbie in a real sense, under 1 year. But I love the model 'less for less' etc... and I will win people over bit by bit. Even my mom, who has no cell, she will have an $8 a month 50 minute plan soon just to have an emergency phone. We'll work on replacing her landline another day. 😉

I was on koodoo month to month service and then I paid the bill and canceled, a few months later I tried to reopen a koodoo account and they said I couldnt. So I never went back to koodoo knowing that my bill was never late and just because I canceled they refused me. PM is where it's at with the 30 $ plan.

The migration plans are not determined by feedback on this forum.  It's usually targeted at a certain segment of customers.  The offer is not subject to individual negotiation.  The value of the offer needs to include consideration of access to hardware, post paid vs prepaid, roaming, etc.

@meocon there isn't really such a thing any more.  Some phones are $0 up front but there's always going to be a tab component.  It might be discounted overall to buy it on the tab vs buying it outright, but you're definitely paying something.
