Just got 2 plans a week ago and now a sale?

codyb

I missed the last "pay 1 month get next month free" and walmart said it could be a long time before it comes back on. I trusted their word and signed up 2 plans. Now, this sale comes out. Any way to credit the two accounts (saves me $100 with the 2 plans) with this free deal had I waited 7 days? If not, maybe will be staying with Fido since I haven't cancled with them yet. Was planning to this week and switch to the plans I got with Public M. Will see how freindly PM is and if freindly will still move over. If not, well, you got my $100 at least.

@GreatCanadian if @codyb paid Walmart $100, then they actually did activate already.  The service is activated, they just haven't ported in from Fido. If they hadn't activated, they would have paid Walmart 2 x $10 + tax for the SIM cards.

@codyb please let us know how the moderator team responds when they do, and what you end up doing.

@GreatCanadian No worries, confusion happens. Now you know.

I must have been confused in thinking that you signed up. When you stated "I trusted their word and signed up 2 plans. ", I assumed you activated 2 plans. And I assumed you would not have done that if you weren't satisfied with the plans.

@GreatCanadian You are incorrect, i didn't switch since I haven't used them yet nor have I left fido. You are also incorrorct about being satisified, unless you are asserting one can be satisfied without ever trying?  The thing was specifically this... I went to go get the deal when the deal WAS on, but the staff had went home at 6... so I came back a few days later when the sale was off and asked when it would be on again. They said probley not till Christmas or so since it was a middle of the year promo. So, i signed up, now 11 days later, I have still not used them and they come up with a sale that I specifically came for. Yes, I do expect the credit based on it is what I would do if I was in their shoes AND how much I would gain from the credit AND how much I would lose by NOT giving the credit. You are also incorrect of "threat to leave" since I have not even tried them yet. You can't leave something you were never with.

@Anonymous just saying what they told me. If they are willing, who am i to stop them.

So, you switched to Public Mobile, and are now threatening to leave if you don't get a refund that you are not entitled to. When you switched, you were obviously satisfied with your Public Mobile plan or you would not have switched. But then a promo came out (promos with any company are generally time-restricted) but you were already a customer (just like me) and could not take advantage of the promo.

I agree, that it's worth a shot to contact the mods, but to EXPECT to be credited isn't fair. You missed a promo. That's life.

If they do grand you the credit, it would be because the Public Mobile team is a very very fair group of people. Your credit won't be granted because of your threat to leave.

When I purchased a sim from Walmart they clearly made a point of stating no refunds. The plan costs are like buying a gift card and are no refunds.   I do agree with all the above posters of both you get why you signed up for, and also it doesn't hurt to try.  But I do feel it is a waste of mod time, what if everyone who signed up asked for special concideratons.

@codyb, hopefully you get a positive reply from mods. Please let us know what happens as it might help community answer these questions with a greater amount of certainty.

I accept that Walmart reps may not know. That is not totally my position. My position is it has 12 days and I have not called nor texted so PM has two choices...

Choice #1: Ignore my request credit request,  which will A) lose them 2 customers instantly who would be clients for years B) Losing them 2 more clients since I was taking my daughter and my freind to sign up C) Possibly lose them tons of cusomers since I will tell people about my unfriednly welcome expereince and guide people away from what should be a freindly goodwill gesture based on circumstances.
Choice #2: Grant my request of missing the deal which will A) gain 2 customers instantaly for years to come B) gain 2 more customers being my daughter and my freind C) would promote PM telling people what a good expereince this turned into.

Choice #1 could cost them thosands and thousands of dollars.
Choice #2 could make them thousands and thousands of dollars.

Remember, I have the ability to get my money back ANYWAYS with talking to walmart today so they will be losing the $100 I already gave them should they choose not to grant the request.  Will see what they say tomorrow.

@codyb, are you saying that you would be able to get a refund from Walmart?   If so,  I highly doubt it.   They are just the middle man,  and can't refund Public Mobile services.

@codyb nobody at Walmart knows what sales/promotions may be coming from PM, unfortunately.  They really just sell the SIMs and help people with their initial activation.  They are not privvy to any plans at PM's marketing department.  Had someone asked me the same question that you asked them, I probably would have said something similar that if they just finished a promo, I wouldn't expect the same one or something similar to come back again fairly soon.  However, nobody knows until the announcement drops in the Announcements area of the community here.

As others have said, you can try to reach out and see if the moderators can help.  I think if Fido ran a promotion a week or so after you activated, they would probably tell you to go away (politely, of course).  Companies generally aren't compelled to honour future promotions to past purchases (other than some retailers that may guarantee a price for 30 or so days--but this seems rare with services such as telecom and more common with physical retail purchases).  However, you can't lose anything from asking them politely if you haven't already.  I hope they can make you happy, but if you prefer to stay with Fido at the end of the day do whatever you think is best, of course.

luckily walmart says since it was only a little more then a week ago, they will simply refund the money.  I could sign up again, but after the non-helpful emails I received from a mod, I don't have much faith in Public Mobile being too freindly of a company to deal with. Like I said, didn't even make a call or send a text yet since hadn't had a chance to cancel fido yet. Also, you saying they are a good deal, they are, but not too go that you have to beg them to do whats right. Example: I get unlimted + 3 gigs LTE data from Fido for $45 and same for my kid. With public mobile you get unlimited +6 gigs 3g for $50, so... not a savings but rather just more of something slower. If mods do not credit my accounts with the free offer, it's ok, i will stick with fido and get my $100 (2 signups) from walmart anyways, so no loss. But be sure I will tell ever single person I know about my expereince of missing a sale by just a few days. Which doesn't make sense anyways.. gain my 2 accounts for many years to come by granted a sale benifit that I just missed? Or say no and lose out the years + lose out from everyone i will share my negative experenice with. For a company NOT to do what's right shows me that its not a company I wouldn't want to be with anyways. Also: was heading in to hook my daughter and my freind up too today. Guess they lost out on that too. So, will see what happens but not holding my breath.

Totally agree BUT "nothing ventured, nothing gained". A polite private message to the moderators asking for some consideration given the situation costs nothing.

I once was scammed by an Airbnb pretender, lost $1,000, registered a fraud alert with my bank & the police. Expected nothing, but 2 months later had a credit for the lost money appear in my bank account! Win some, lose some but ya gotta try to win some. Robot wink

@codyb Nobody can predict the deal. If you want you can send a private message to the moderator team and ask them about that.  include your account# or phone#, as well as your account PIN (if know) to help speed up the identification process.
