Hi,
My wife just landed in Sacremento, she has the same plan I do, the 50GB US/Canada plan.
When she landed she received this text message:
"Public Mobile here. Welcome to USA! You can get a U.S. roaming add-on for as low as $10 for 15 days. Customers using Roaming Add-Ons may experience differences in coverage and service quality (including 9-1-1 calls) due to certain U.S. carrier 3G network shutdowns. Go to https://selfserve.publicmobile.ca/ for Add-On options. If you no longer wish to hear about Public Mobile offers, visit bit.ly/1n8ObE2.”"
This is a strange message to receive as we should have full access in the USA our plan says "Canada-US wide".
She is able to receive RCS text messages with me, she's texting me about this issue now. However, she can't make or receive phone calls.
She confirmed roaming is turned on and I can see the "R" symbol above her signal in the screenshot she sent me. I asked her to check the available networks on her Android phone in Settings. She says all she can see is "AT&T".
Can anyone confirm the above text message is erroneous and perhaps just sent out by default?
Thank you!

@Hewis that's is a normal message, everyone will get it with or without the roaming package
She has Canada US plan, so no need to buy extra, she just need to make sure the device is setup properly
Critical part to US roaming depends on T-Mobile/AT&T coverage and whether you can connect successfully onto either network.
If the phone is not connecting to T-Mobile/AT&T, change the Network Connection from Automatic to Manual and select and test both T-Mobile and AT&T and see which one you can connect.
If your issue is with data, make sure your Roaming Mobile data is enabled and you have disabled your mobile data limiter. Also change your network mode to 4G (and don't try 5G until you can connect and works on 4G)
If your issue is with voice, make sure VoLTE is enabled on the device setting. And if it does not work, try to change the Network to T-Mobile ONLY, and change Preferred Network Type or Network Mode to 2G and see if the calls go through.
Also, you can download VoIP app TextNow as a workaround to make calls and text if you have Wifi or if your roaming has data component and data is working

Ah, she just connected to T-Mobile and called me.
I suspect all's good? Thanks for confirming.

She has to connect to USA mobile providers and activate roaming.
If you have USA/Canada plan there is NO need to purchase any USA add-ons.
