I have a Canada/US plan and currently I am in the US. I have my data and can access the Internet and I can send and receive texts ok. But I cannot send or receive phone calls. Its trying to connect to AT&T but drops the call immediately when I try to make a call. I recieved a message from Public Mobile saying I need a Roaming package. But I shouldn't with a Canada/US plan. Can anyone help please?

HI @Stanleb
if you just need a workaround to make and receive calls from friend, download VoIP app TextNow. It will give you another 10 digits number you can use on the app
but if you are expecting calls and text on your current PM number, then it won't help
I guess time to upgrade your phone.

@Stanleb No sorry there’s no work around , if it’s not in the volLTE whitelist it won’t work for calls in the U.S. unfortunately .

We have Pixel 3a and they are not shown on the VoLTE list. So is there any workaround

@Stanleb No you don't need a roaming package if you have a Canada-US plan, that message is automatic for everyone and can be ignored. It sounds more like a VoLTE (Voice over LTE) problem as already mentioned, because a non-VoLTE phone needs to drop to a 3G network for voice calls but the US shut down their 3G in 2022. For an alternative, since data is working, you could download a voip app like Fongo or TextNow to make phone calls while you're in the US.

hi @Stanleb
what phone you have? Maybe a VoLTE problem. Only selected phone can use VoLTE and can receive calls in US without problem.
Try to connect to T-Mobile and chnage the network mode to 2G and test again

@Stanleb What phone you have ? If it’s not on the PM voLTE white list you won’t be able to make calls
VoLTE white list
