Just Curious, For the US Roaming Add-On, IF one went to US, and Didn't Purchase Prior to Crossing Border, CAN you use the *611 to Buy, or ONLY Internet?
Just wondering, My Mama had an issue with how that works, and Brought up something that I agree
What IF One Crossed for, 1 Day, example, Car Broke down or Emergency, IF NO Wi-Fi Nearby, If One CANNOT Use *611 to buy Add-On, Would that be Considered a Fundamental Flaw?
Especially for those WHO MIGHT NOT BE 100% Technical And rely on Relatives, Me example who have such knowledge
I hope PM Community won't be in a Roasting Mood, This is a Very Simple and Honest Thing, I hope PM can AT LEAST, take things Serious, None of these Koodo or Telus or Postpaid or Buy a Local Sim Nonsense, Some PPL like me prefer having some Convenience, And am Very Willing to pay the Fair Rate for a Global Roaming Add-On Consideration
Please and thanks

@mimmo wrote:@srlawren@Yes I called 1855 from USA to activate the add-on when I was there. The whole point of the 1855 was is to replace 611
But not sure situation if you don't have a calling base plan.
Not that you need it but I was in the US this morning and can confirm - I turned off airplane mode, found myself on AT&T so I tried the 1-855 number and it worked as expected. I didn't purchase an add-on although I was presented with the option to do so.
As you also say I don't know if that would work if you don't have a base calling plan with PM though.

To be Honest, I think PM MUST get the *611 to Function, as it would SIMPLIFY the process
Plus, I also hope a Global Roam is in the Cards
Example, IF One was in a Foreign Country for, a few Days, Emergencies, Just saying, PLUS, all these sim Swap, Cell # Nonsense can be kinda silly

@mimmo thank you for confirming, and I apologize to all for my misleading info.

1. What happens after my 10-day U.S. Roaming Add-On expires?
Time to get a moderator in here as that (from their FAQ) sounds like you DON'T need the add-on to do so (because for this specific question it's expired and no longer in effect).
@CS_Agent: You know what to do... 🙂

@mimmo you're 100% sure of that? I'm very skeptical that a call even to a toll-free number would go through without a talk plan in place. *611 is usually a special case and will route you to the provider you've connected to even without a plan in place (which probably explains why it doesn't work for PM in the US--it would try to route you to T-Mobile or AT&T instead), and of course 911 can be called on any phone with charge and any network within signal range. But unless you can confirm you've done it, I wouldn't think a call to a toll-free number would go through. [EDIT: I stand corrected!]

Actually this is a great question @makkahn28 and @mimmo has a very good link.
I read the link & didn't realize that we had both the #611 & 1800# we could call to add service. I'll have to add this to my contacts.
I read the message & many Q after, so hopefully this works even if we don't have a calling plan ? (Update - Gosh 4 replies while i was typing - looks like may not be able to use #611 or tel if you don't have servce - wo would have to go to wifi to add or borrow someones phone for the toll free call).
Also hopefully most are aware that 911 calls are supposed to be possible from any phone (whether you have plan active or not) if there was a big emergency..
The other thing I did was add a shortcut on my 'desktop' or phone to the webpage to make it easier to access should i decide to add coverage or check usage when I get wifi at hotel/ McD/ etc.
I've had a few trips a bit longer than 10 days & I bought /activated the plan during the trip as I had already saved off line map to get there.
I normally add funds & activate in the morning so as not to waste a day.
We have had some requests to be able to 'schedule' a start so that one doesn't have to remember the morning you leave. I recenty set my wife & I up on seperate plans - she had PM's & I used Roam's so I could delay the start by a day so we'd have coverage for our 11 or 12 day trip.

When you are in the US you can call 1-855-4PUBLIC or use wifi to access the Self-Serve site. 611 does NOT work while you are in the US.
One note: you'd have to call the 1-855 toll-free number from some other phone. Your PM phone won't be able to place that call without already having a US Roaming Talk add-on active. [EDIT: I stand corrected, please disregard]

I can confirm with @mimmo that it is possible using the number he listed, buying the add-on as long as a valid CC is on file with that account, then rebooting the device.

Thanks @mimmo, I wasn't aware of this too and am going to add this number as a contact in my phone. 🙂
