HELP! Disable or remove voicemail from my service

mlroberts

I'm a senior with arthritis mobility problems.  When my cell phone rings I can't answer fast enough and the call goes to voicemail.  Rings are already set at 30 seconds/6 rings.  I never use my cell phone to make or receive phone calls.  I'm 'housebound' so always use my landline.

The only calls I get on the cell phone are delivery people buzzing from the lobby.  I can't move fast enough to answer the cell phone before it goes to voicemail.   I missed a deliver due to this!

How can I set up more than 6 rings, (8 to 10 perfect) OR completely remove or disable the Voicemail?

Ah…Jeepers. @mlroberts I think you should contact a CSA. Make sure you are logged on and contact a CSA using this link. https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/notes/composepage/note-to-user-id/22437

This new technology doesn’t bold well for some of us seniors for sure. Including me. But it is what it is and hopefully someone can give you a solution.

Thinking back. When you first set up your Public Mobile you had to set up voicemail. What if you didn’t? Would that give you what you need? Is that a logical request?

Lately  our fiends are all mentioning that they have one phone between both of them, they rarely use it, they don’t have it in their hand or nearby 24/7. But we are now expected to have one for doctors offices and barbers so we can confirm appointments at our expense to reduce their costs of calling us for the reminder. This week a parking lot in Vancouver gives free parking “if” you scan the code with your cell phone. 1 elderly guy has no phone and now can’t park to bank. The TV station helps an elderly lady scan but would not work. Likely because she did not have data or had data but was not turned on. And the TV station person probably had no idea that some of us don’t have data. No data…..scanning does not work!

I sure hope someone sees that you have a legitimate request that needs fixing! Here’s a what if…..you call 911, pass out, who lets them in?

Or is next step…..figure out to have phone around your neck or attached to your belt?

SADLY THE ANSWER IS YES and NO!  ON AUGUST 14TH  BELL SWITCHED MY LANDLINE FROM OLD COPPER TO NEW (BUT IRRITATING) VOIP.   Home line on VOIP is not compatible with our Condo's older Entry system, still on old copper.

The manager had to put my Cell phone into the Entry System.  It works BUT I need more time.   MANY THANKS to all who posted info to change the number of rings to 30 seconds/6 rings, I did this already.  It is still not enough time for this old slow poke. 🙂

With old Landline I'd turn off Answering Machine on delivery days  I don't understand why in 2024 Public Mobile can't 'turn off' or remove voicemail from my Account.  I'd pay Public to do this for me!  I never use Cell phone to make or receive phone calls so Voicemail is useless to me, in fact it is a hindrance.

Sorry my reply is so long but I want to be certain my situation is clearly understood. IF anyone from PUBLIC reads this board please help.  Thanks for any help.

1. Can’t the calls go to your landline?

2. Can you forward all cell calls to your land line? Then can you allow entry from land line?

Or contact a CSA and also let them know what your phone make and model is.

Take a look at some options. https://support.bell.ca/mobility/rate_plans_features/how_to_use_call_forwarding_on_my_mobile_phone

@mlroberts

Change your voicemail greeting to say that you are available and to phone again.

@mlroberts

you cannot set more than 30 seconds of ring and neither completely disable voicemail

however maybe you can set conditional forwarding when no reply to your landline

to enable: dial * 61 * + ten-digit phone number + '#' + SEND

to disable: dial # 61 # , then  SEND
