I understand that but how average user can figure out what to do? You still have to have Some experience doing this. I would not recommend to somebody who is just a 'user', little bit of internet, facebook, weather app, etc. to dive into such exercise.

Safe mode by name is safe. It disables all but the original factory installed apps so that you can determine if whatever is affecting your device easily uninstalled or a much more serious issue but walking your way back can usually find the culprit in your most recently installed or downloaded crap. Worse case scenario you uninstall all of the third party apps.

Just be careful when you go deep into system. You might be holding future paper weight...

Hi @fflores

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key past the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge screen.
  3. When "SAMSUNG" appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  6. Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  7. Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.
  8. Uninstall apps that are causing a problem.

Turn off safe mode

  1. Press and hold the Power key.
  2. Tap Restart.

HI @fflores

Just factory reset the phone.  It is safer

But do not restore from cloud backup.  Try to setup the phone again from scratch. Safer that way

It is not a system app, can never be.  Of course it is safe.  All open source apps are safe.  I use it on all my non rooted phones.  Our biggest enemy is ourselves.  Hide the clickbait and all the malware risks are gone.

HI @will13am   This is for iPhone only?  Any good one for Android?

You can get blokada from their source site and sideload it.  They do have a slim version from the play store.  I use the version from the site.

Was the phishing spam through email or text?

NEVER click on the hyperlink.

Delete app and do a virus scan and go to Settings>Device Care>Security>Scan Phone.

@fflores

Reboot your phone in safe mode to narrow down the bad app....likely one of the most recent ones that you installed. Back up your data in safe mode which should prevent you from reinstalling any malware after a factory reset if you cannot find and remove it. Performing device maintenance can also help identify where the malware is originating.

To clean your phone? Do you mean to remove suspicious apps you installed?

Best clean up is factory reset...
