@dust2dust   Yes, of course, their response isn't quite crystal clear..

@Hwrold   Do you mind clarifying if the number was ported at time of activation or not in Hamilton?

@dabr- It could also have been that he ported in a number.

@Hwrold    Then first send a private message to CS_Agent here:  https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/notes/composepage/note-to-user-id/22437

Explain that you are trying to retrieve your previous number issued by PM and it doesn't seem to be in service.  Ask if the number is available and you would be happy to open a new account if that was possible.

You can always open a new account with a new number and then ask customer support if they can allocate the old number if it's available, of course.

edit:  @dust2dust  I'm guessing it's a PM number from OP's last response about activating the account at Walmart?

The question is more about the phone number. Did you port it over from another provider? Maybe you could share the first 6 digits (not last four).

I got it from Walmart Hamilton, It was the public sim number at the time of purchase.

@Hwrold    Where did you first get your old number?   PM won't be able to help retrieve it if the number was never issued by the Telus family group.

So, shall i get any number to register and create an account. And then ask customer support regarding the old number stuff ?

@Hwrold   While you won't be able to reactivate the old account and will need to start fresh with a new SIM/account,  you'll only be able to retrieve the old number if it was originally issued by PM/Telus/Koodo and has not been assigned to someone else, which you say it doesn't seem to be.

If it was issued by another carrier, then you need to open an account with them but I would first ask them if that number is available for you to activate with beforehand.  Then you would have the option to transfer the number over to PM if you still wanted to activate an account here.

@Hwrold   the best way is to call the business for that OTP service and have it changed to another number or another mean to receive the OTP code

Since you left, the number was returned and there is really no system to give you back the exact number.  Even if PM able to do it and willing to do it, please understand they are just helping.  Providers are no longer promising to give exact phone number as the customer requests

If you want to try , you can open message with PM support, but again, they might or might not help and they are not obligated to give back old number

You won't be able to get into that account as it has been permanently closed,

@Hwrold   How long ago has the PM account been deactivated and where was the number issued from originally?

There's a better chance if your number was issued from PM/Koodo/Telus and it's still within the 90 days of holding period after deactivation.

You can always ask customer support to see if the number is available via chatbot here:  https://widget.telus.tiia.ai/publicmobile/publicmobile.html

You can also try calling your old number to see if it's already been assigned to another customer.

HI @Hwrold   did you get the number new from Public Mobile when you activated?

and you left for about a year already?

@Hwrold   if it has been a year, very likely not

and if you ported in your number from another provider, the number would have gone back to the provider where you got the number from so PM would not be able to help

If you got the number originally from PM, PM and Telus family would have kept the number for redistribution  You can try to call the number, if no one got it yet, then it is not bad.

If you are joining PM anyway, pick a new number first.  Then open ticket with PM support and see if they can do anything.
