Had to purchase a new phone while in the US, a Samsung Galaxy A12, factory unlocked. Phone worked in Florida with a local sime card. Now back in Ottawa, phone will not recognize my old sim card.

HI@JLLamontagne Do you see any error message on the phone or asking for any code/PUK?
Do you have another phone to test the PM SIM? just make to make sure if the PM SIM is working

@JLLamontagne Could it be a prepaid phone on a network like Metro by T-Mo. or Cricket? Some of those phones may be network locked until a certain time period passes on the original network then you have to call in to get it unlocked. If that's the case, you can try taking it into a Canadian phone shop that offers unlocking services. They should be able to unlock your phone on the spot.

Make sure that your PM account is active.
Some basic trouble shooting advice:
Reboot phone. Network rest of phone. Take out SIM card and put back in. Toggle airplane mode on, then off.
This phone should work with Public mobile but it is missing one important 3G band, 1900.

3G bands | HSDPA 850 / 900 / 2100 |
4G bands | 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28, 38, 40, 41 |
Public Mobile uses the following frequency bands:
3G = 850 (5), 1900 (2)
4G = 850 (5), 1900 (2), 700 (12/13/17/29), 1700/2100 (4), 2600 (7), 1700/2100 (66)

Were you in Florida longer than 90 days without keeping up with your monthly payment?
It might be closed but check on your account to see if your account Status is Active, Suspended or Expired.

Did you try any other SIM from other providers?
What message do you get? Are you 100% phone is unlocked?
