Forwarding my number to my wife's roaming phone.

My wife and I are going to Florida for a week, and I've purchased the US talk and text roam plan for my wife. My phone will not be used there. I'm wondering if I can set up call forwarding of my number to hers. Does this work while she's roaming? Is this something done via self serve or other means?

Excellent questions.  Please see the post titled "How to Call Forward" for details on how to set up call forwarding.  According to the same post, your phone does not need to stay on for call forwarding to work (see here for the details).

@Jorno this is correct.  Even though you can manage (turn on/off, change number to forward to, etc) the feature from your phone, the forwarding is actually a network feature.  So once you've set it up, you can safely turn the phone off and the network will continue to forward the calls.

You can set call forwarding right in your phone goto your dialer and then setting then more settings. You will see call forwarding and call waiting setting click on call forward then input your number where you want to forwards your calls. This setting work on android and if you using iPhone goto setting then phone and you will see same setting as well.

You can do it on your phone (call forwarding feature) but yes, your phone wil need to remain on.

There are GSM codes that will work too.  It overrides the phone as it is system based. Essentially you can turn your phone off and leave it off.

follow this link... and program from there...

I've used the codes successfully to forward unanswered calls to a 3rd party voip company and I handle all voice mail through them (freephoneline.ca - aka fongo).

Yes, that should work. Try forwarding to her phone before you leave to be sure. Folks calling you will hear her voicemail message not yours.

I am not absolutely certain, but I think it should work.  You need to set up the forwarding while in the home province.
