I don’t understand the data usage. My daughters phone is in wifi 95% if the time and she gets a message saying she used all her data . Impossible. I can go in and see. If this is what’s going to happen, I’ll switch providers

You may be surprised there are abundant WIFI in many public places other than your own home. Our phone is equipped with Shaw Open which automatically connects to available WIFI nearby for free. Our phone plan comes with only 250 MB data which is hardly used unless we really need to connect for important reasons. Most of the time, we use WIFI to search, read news, watch You Tube etc. Notifications will find their way to your phone once WIFI kicks in. Of course I DON'T recommend those who store sensitive and personal data in their cell phone to use public WIFI which is not secure at all.
I agree with you it is not practical for young lady like your daughter to turn off mobile data. In that case, I recommend her to enroll into unlimited data plan.

The thing is there’s things on the account that says used data , like certain phone calls and throw is a brand new phone with no calls on it . I don’t know 🤷♀️

Public Mobile data is nothing different than any other provider data. So, if a phone is using data instead of Wifi that is then Wifi/phone problem (maybe out of range, phone disconnects from wifi to save batter, etc). Turning OFF/ON data all the time is (for me) really not practical and what I did on my phone (using iPhone) is to disable data for any app that I really don't need to use when not on WIFI. Also, disable any possible phone updates, app downloads and especially big data usage app like YouTube or any other streaming app. I only leave apps that I really need outside all the time like for communication, google maps..

How old is your daughter? Is it possible that she’s connecting to the cellular network instead of your home wifi network?. Some people wouldn’t notice if this were the case.
Also, threatening to switch providers doesn’t impact us. We are all customers just like yourself.

Good idea, @kittyhyue . Another idea is to turn OFF data to any apps that you don't normally use.
Also turn OFF wifi assist in your phones settings.

With this new site, you likely still reading off the cached version, so the usage you got was not up to date
An easy way is to click the Spinner on the bottom right of the section to force a refresh.
If you don't see an updated usage still, try to login My Account using Incognito mode (or InPrivate for Edge, Private for Safari) or try again with a completely different browser like Edge/Firefox/Chrome. You should then see the latest usage from the server.

If you find she still has plenty of data...just ignore that message. Sometimes it's sent out in err.
