Ohhh, that sucks. Download TextNow to use a free number to make calls.

@Atk-47

If it is family and friends you need to call, consider using data and download WhatsApp.

Change it to 2G / GSM / EDGE by manually selecting T-Mobile.

You will receive calls & send calls, but data is slower.

What phone are you using?  If your phone is not on the Public Mobile whitelist for VoLTE, it is going to be tough navigating phone calls in the US.  T-Mobile is doing away with their 2G network which is the only connection option for phone calls unless VoLTE works.

To check if your device is VoLTE-Roaming enabled, please check this list:

  • Apple iPhone 8 & above (iOS 16 & above)
  • Google Pixel 4/4XL/4a/4a 5G (TP1A.220624.014 & above)

@Atk-47 - If that doesn't work then try switching to the T-Mobile manually & selecting 2G / EDGE / GSM as the network type.

You will have slow data, but be able to make and receive calls, send and receive texts, use slower data.

Definitely have the roaming packages for everyone, 75GB Canada/ US. We can all send texts and can use the data but absolutely have no phone capabilities. We are on T-Mobile right now. Gonna try switching to 4G

@Atk-47 - Are you sure that you indeed got a Canada US Plan? Check 'My Account' > Subscriptions & Add-ons, it will tell you what plan you are on - if it has 'Canada - US Data'

Make sure that 'Data Roaming' is on, if it is off then you cannot roam hence why your phone may not work in the USA.

If it indeed has the plan, move on to the next step, if not, buy a roaming add-on

Check what phone provider your phone is connected to

Some people have reported that the phone auto connects to Verizon Wireless, which PM has no roaming support for.

Try switching to Manual and selecting T-Mobile or AT&T.

Now by what you have told me: here is my main recommendation:

If nothing, check if your phone is VoLTE Capable: https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/volte

If your phone isn't on the WhiteList then hence it isn't supported for Voice roaming in the states.

Try manually connecting to T-Mobile 2G / EDGE / GSM and see if it works. T-Mobile is the only carrier that still has a backup system incase devices aren't constable with their / roaming partners Voice Over LTE network.

@Atk-47  Set phone to 4G/LTE not 5G and connect to T mobile or AT&T also ensure you have data roaming turned on in phone settings
