Credit Card Only AutoPay

Anyone know why Autopay is by credit card only? I'd rather pay via my bank or PayPal.

Because Credit card is a more binding contract. With all the legal ramifications.

This. Customers should be able to add PM to their payee list! First World problems and all but it's annoying they don't make it an option.

Sometimes it's for security issues. After you set up initially with a credit card just change it to a Visa paid debit and you can require from your bank which will work exactly the same.

Public Mobile could choose to accept ATM/in branch/online banking bill payments but they choose not to.  That's why you won't find Public Mobile in any bank's payee list.

As for wiating for payments to clear, I don't see that being an issue unless the customer is making payments at the last moment, althoguh I do agree that it could cause the service of some customers to be unexpetedly cut.  However, it would really be up to the customer to ensure sufficient payment processing time.  Then again, that's not a factor since that type of payment isn't accepted.

Debit cards are only accepted if the have the Visa (and unofficially) the Mastercard logo. If it doesn't have that logo on the front, it cannot be used make a payment to Public Mobile through Self Serve or *611.

I don't know why the OP needs to ask customer support why pm doesn't accept pre-authorization. They don't. Autopay is not set up as a pre-authorized service ( As a customer this is a good thing.) It's set up as a one time payment only system no extra permissions or signatures needed. As such it can't except debit cards.....but PayPal is on the wishlist.....I think maybe....it is...I will have to consult with @maximum_gato !!😃

If anytime I carry balance on CC then I see if my bank can setup a pre-authorize to pay off minimum payment so basically its a pre-authorized payment to CC and then PM get paid automatically from CC.

I know PM accepts Visa debit and the vouchers but I want to autopay via my bank instead.

My question is why PM doesn't offer auto withdrawal as a payment option. This is frustrating as I carry a balance and max out my CC at times.

@missiongrrl

go sign in to Self-Serve,to review your account, and put it at Available funds:$

and how much you pay the extra is will going to your account Available funds:$ ! has the amount left, and for next bill cycle the will take it from there automatically,

you have to put it a credit card,

I think not all mobile provider has pre-authorized bank payment as an option.   (You can pay the bill after in the bank but that is postpaid )

Did you consider using voucher?  Buy voucher at retails like Shoppers Drug Mart/Shell/7-11 etc and load them into your account.  Probably is a good option in your case

@missiongrrl    I don't know why but perhaps because PM is a budget provider (under the Telus umbrella) and more payment options would increase their operating costs and would need to be passed onto customers.

You can ask customer service for more information as to the reasons why by clicking the chatbot bubble (bottom right) and submitting a ticket.

Edit:  @missiongrrl   Wouldn't the bank Debit Visa just debit your bank account and be practically the same as paying via your bank?

@Anonymous    Ooops, I think you misplaced where the "edit" in your first post should be, perhaps just after your first two original links?   Although the last link was added later (second edit) so you are correct to insert the edit there... enjoy your day 😊

@missiongrrl

If you don't have credit card to register for autopay I can supply a visa gift card go register with a $0.10 balance. You would have to pay by voucher for your renewals.

You can purchase pm vouchers from Canadian Cell Supplies without a service fee if you use a debit card. Generally takes 3 days to receive your vouchers via your email. PayPal can be used but there is a 10% service fee for voucher only purchases.

@missiongrrl    Payments via bank or PayPal aren't accepted by PM, but you could opt to use a bank issued Debit Visa or Debit MC (BMO) and still get the autopay reward.  Or just register any CC or Debit Visa to qualify for the autopay reward but opt to pay by vouchers if you want.

@missiongrrl

You can use a visa/debit card or a koho card ( and earn 2.5%cash back!) and some m/c/debit cards are accepted.

You can also use a Visa debit card.  If you pay with vouchers then you would not get the $2 autopay reward every 30 days.
