Considering buying a used phone - what's the minimum battery health for each 'quality' level?

@BenR21 I bought iPhone 8 Plus from PM in September, the battery is so far so good. I ordered the "great" one.

Battery health varies from phone to phone. We do not know where PM gets those phones and what kind of checks it does. I really doubt they have service which opens (unglues) phones, and replaces battery with the brand new one.

Depending on your luck you might get healthy battery or not. The only benefit of buying phones from PM is 30 days return policy and 1 year warranty comparing to kijiji or similar sites.

For an iPhone I go for 90% and up, and no lower. There are numerous IMEI checks to do if you buy off of eBay...I would not bother. And ebay seller may not be selling a phone that was originally  purchased in Canada. And I doubt that any online seller like PM or MobilKlinik will advise you of battery health before hand. Lately I have acquired our phones from family that have just received new ones as this is the season when a lot of people renew contracts getting Black Friday deals.  Before that I acquired all phones from Craigslist....and never burned as I have a long check list before I buy. Never the less this is the right time for a second hand phone.

You could check out what eBay has for refurbished phone deals too.

@BenR21    It won't cost you anything to ask a CSA from Public, since they are an online only service provider. They are the ones selling you those phones anyways.

YMMV

HI @BenR21   It is more a hit or miss. I doubt asking CSA will give you any solid answer

We heard people with great battery even on the lowest "quality" level on the CPO 3 levels system.  We heard bad battery complain on the "top" level.  So, it is hard to say

Order one you want, take advantage of the 30 days full refund and see if you like it

If you want to see the phone itself, you can check MobileKlinic.  It is owned by Telus so the selection are somewhat the same.  Price are similar, maybe same , maybe $10 or $20 more.  But good thing is that you can see the phone itself

@BenR21 , it is probably variable.  You will only know when you receive the phone.  Recognizing that phone batteries degrade with time even if not used, I would suggest avoiding something that has a release date more than 2-3 years ago.

@BenR21 You'll probably want to contact a CSA and ask them.  They might have that information.
