The search bar is at the top of the page but why do most of the community not use it? It actually works really well if you searched "my sim doesn't work?" You can find many, countless posts. Not that we cant ask questions but thought it was funny that I hadnt really used it much until today, started playing around on it today and it works quite well.

I use the search bar all the time. If I have no idea how to solve an issue, and its late with no one else to offer their expertise on a particular problem. Or if I know I can find the answer that I've read before but I want to be sure I'm correct before replying ill put some keywords in to find the post I'm looking for.... or even reference one of my own posts.
I don't possess the tech savviness that others have so a lot of my info is from memory or remembering where to find it. When new members ask how they can help out in the community I try to mention using the search bar for reference or to find the answer for someone else. A win win they learn and tell the OP and the OP learns and is helped out.
I agree it is very underutilized. I had a stumper last night....and used it to figure out an issue ( at least I think I did I'll have to see if it was solved after contacting the mods.)

Okay z10, are you a Camaro or BlackBerry owner with a tag name like yours?
It's my entirely non-creative username choosing prowess on display. It was the phone I was using at the time I started here. Yeah. Real original.
Oracles don't need egging. They have enough on their plates with all that's been going on here since the world blew up.

@Naepalm wrote:@Anonymous fair comment. Thanks for the thoughtful response and clarifying roles of the oracles. Intotally agree they are really good people I have no beef with any of them and actually even @ShawnC13 in particular I have lots of respect for. Carrying the load for the community and taking flack from us members cant be easy.
cheers
Hey, don't get me wrong, I've had my own run-ins. But over time it's become just a big shrug and whatever and carry on. Always remember...none of this matters. Help out when you can, if you wish. I like the little brain hit of satisfaction when whatever I said got the customer going. Sure a couple bucks is nice but the time required is totally not worth it. So I lean more towards the brain reward. Whatever comes of that at the end of the month...fine.
I used to be all addicted and driven to make sure I got the 15 bucks each month. And I did. But it's a whole frickin' 15 bucks! For way way too many hours blown doing it.

There's no solution to a philosophical discussion. It's all opinion.
Some Oracle's will decide, as they've been appointed to do, that a selected solution is not right or is inappropriate.
No newb is going to see your post and go "oh ok I'll use the search bar". Not gonna happen.
Asking "should" Oracle's move topics is the war. No, posts do not go into any bin for them to decide. They will read through posts and keep watch and whatever action they deem necessary they'll do.
Since the world blew up a month or so ago, a bunch of new, keen arrivals showed up full of p1$$ and vinegar eager to conquer the forum. We're all at home isolating or unemployed with time to kill. And moods and patience and tolerance are stretched. So we keep on keeping on.
The Oracle's aren't the bad guys. They're here to keep watch for shenanigans. Is it fair to all participants that some participants seem to be maybe cheating the system.

@Naepalm it is still in Getting Started. I said it was a good discussion but didn't see a that there was a question so no need for a solution that is all

@Anonymous
Ah sorry its hard to get emotion or anything behind what I am saying. Im not angry, I usually try to say it as it is. Just wanted it to be clear, can we accept a solution or donwe need an oracle?
I thought it was a good place to put it in "getting started"
So to clear it up should oracles choose where every topic goes. like it goes to a bin then they choose where to place it..
Again just want clarify, dont take this as me being mad or anything, cause im not. Just trying to figure this out.

@Naepalm wrote:@ShawnC13 you can move it to discussion if you like, but if you are just getting started then using the search bar would be a good idea no?
I have yet to see anyone point out the search bar or direct anyone to the search bar .
A solition to this would be someone answering why no one uses the search bar and I think the answer given did just that so I accepted it as a solution.
My question would be are all solutions to be reviewed by oracles & PM prior to accepting one?
I think it is a great discussion if you are saying it was a question then yes go ahead and mark it. It just seemed like it was a discussion. As for reviewing Solutions yes from time to time, they will get reviewed as it is important to make sure the correct information has been selected as the answer.

Oh oh. Please let's not have another war.
I think telling newbs to use the search bar or make a new thread is unwelcoming and unhelpful. The customer just wants an answer and carry on with their life. They're not interested in becoming forum regulars. They're not interested in being experts in navigating the forum.
Just fix my phone.
Edit:
@Naepalm wrote:@ShawnC13 here is the question....

This is a philosophical question. It's a common thing with most people in most forums that I know whether support or enthusiast. I know I usually can't be bothered. You search for something. You get a million results. You start reading each one. No, no, no, no, maybe, no, no. Ah crap. I'll just bl@@dy ask. I don't have all day and those rabbit holes are deadly time sinks.

@Naepalm , this was a statement about a feature, not an issue or question so I don't see how there could be a solution to it. This is obviously just more of a discussion

new members come on board might seem a bit overwhelming, might be easier to ask a question, even if its repeated, even if we read it before, whats the big deal. they are new and don't know, i've made mistakes in last few weeks. search or ask. so what, we are here to help.<

@Naepalm Unknown. Seems for people, it is easier to create a new topic with their question rather than to use that search bar😅
