New to PM. Has anyone visited the UK? How did you manage to use your phone there?

We have used giffgaff, and were pleased. 5G is standard. Includes EU roaming.
They will mail a free SIM card to you in Canada, or (preferable) you can sign up and get an eSIM.
Their rates should embarrass Canadian telcos, too!
Then, you can step off the plane with coverage; no searching strange airports or malls for a retailer.

You can also use WhatsApp when connected to wifi or the local SIM data.

That is one of the biggest disadvantages with Public mobile. Lack of international country roaming (outside US and Mexico). Most PM customers will purchase a travel SIM or a domestic SIM card when they arrive in the country.
Unable to receive 2FA texts (from banks) while traveling on your PM cell number unfortunately.

your Public Mobile service only works in Canada, USA or Mexico. It won't work in UK...you need a local sim and a cheap plan there.
added...to keep in touch with others at home, consider downloading the free voip app such as TextNow. It uses your local wifi or separately purchased data to make free calls / texts to most any number in Canada / USA.
