Anyone else have charges to their credit card on file when not subscribed? Anyone complain to the CRTC?
I am getting nowhere with the CS_Agents. One was helpful and the next person just gaslit me. A payment was taken when I was out of the country and could not use the phone, useless plan that it is. I was not subscribed and planned to allow 89 days to laps before continuing payment as is possible. Instead, Public Mobile charged the full fee to my credit card without authorization. This feels like fraud. I will not let this go.

Eating this is not in my plan. Cancelling my guest phone now so they get nothing for that ever again and the main one when I get back to Canada is the plan. So much frustration from beginning to end with this lot.

Autopay not enabled. I don't do this. I am cancelling my second account now and the main one when I get back to Canada.

@StillAngry Nothing was turned off as it was never on.
Auto pay (subscribed) is on by default when you sign up with Public Mobile. So you had gone into your account and toggled it off at some point? So when you log in to your account now it says unsubscribed instead of subscribed?

Auto pay was never on. I clearly stated that.

Thank you Chalupa_Batman for taking the time to respond. I was not subscribed and never allow auto payments with my credit products. I have tried to escalate this to a supervisor. I believe that the CCTS is part of the CRTC. I am waiting for the chat to start in the morning on that side of the world.

Thank you for your response slusagm. I never subscribe and always make manual payments. It was not subscribed by me as I never allow free access to my credit products. The amount was charged on its due date and I had planned to let it rest for 89 days and then pay to keep it alive, as it is not usable in this country. It was not subscribed and will not be subscribed.

If it was usable in this country I would have maintained it. Because I am away for several months each year, I let it go for 89 days and make a payment to keep the number current. Truth? Really?

Good point I’m little confused if OP actually turned off auto subscribe because they say
“quote “ I was out of the country and could not use the phone, useless plan that it is. I was not subscribed
so if OP was not subscribed why say I couldn’t use the plan , useless plan that is , to then say I wasn’t subscribed.. so what’s the truth here

critical part that you didn't tell us is did you turn off Subscribed from Manage Subscription? if you did and PM still charged you, PM was at fault. But if you didn't, then no one can help.

Hey @StillAngry
You have to turn off auto payments on your account. If you did that, then CS Agents can reverse the charge. If you feel gaslit, then send in another request but ask it be escalated to a supervisor.
Side note, CRTC doesn't deal with these complaints. You're thinking the CCTS. 🙂

@StillAngry when you turn off auto subscribe it dosent suspend your account that day it just will suspended on your renewal day .by not renewing the plan . Did you by any chance turn of auto subscribe day or two after it had already renewed and left so first month you were away it still had service and that’s why your thinking it charged you while gone possibly . Not normal for them to take payment if auto subscribe is turned off it’s more possible auto pay fails even when it is on , but anything possible , you could dispute it with bank and do charge back if you really think you were wrongly charged but that would cause issues going forward making payment having to get vouchers each month and asking support to load the funds do you . So if you can’t have the situation escalated with support to work it out that might be your only option , besides double checking if it situation like i first suggested might have happened. Then you just have to eat it and move on unfortunately . Chalk it up to learning experience

HI @StillAngry
no fault, your autopay was enabled. You should have disabled the autopay when you gone for travel. As long as the Autopay is enabled, PM is authorized to charge your credit card. If you forgot to do it, there is nothing wrong the company not to provide refund. The complain would go no where too. if it is your own responsibility to disable payment if you want to suspend the service
