Hi!!
I’m a nurse and I work in Nunavik. (1 month in montreal, then 1 month in Nunavik). However, there is no cellular data available in the North which makes me unable to receive texts/calls on my number. I was told by multiple people to turn on some setting like "call over wifi" (not sure exactly) but I cannot find any setting that seems similar to that on my device.
I have no idea if it’s relevant but my phone is an iphone 11 and is updated to iOS 18.
Thanks!!

Unfortunate this isn't offered. it's enough that I will be leaving soon -- service not really great at my house -- relied on wifi calling with another provider. Will be moving over to freedom mobile.

The text app workarounds don’t really solve the issues since you can’t use your existing cell number. Telus and Koodo don’t offer nearly the same value. The closest provider to Public Mobile that offers Wi-Fi calling seems to be Freedom Mobile. If PM doesn’t implement Wi-Fi calling by the end of the year. I’ll be switching over and giving it a try.

if you have a robust wifi signal where you work, consider downloading WhatApp. You'll be able to keep in voice and message contact with others using that app too.

@aquarelle Not with public mobile no unfortunately, but you get try text now app or fongo and get a number thru them for free to make calls and text over wifi

@aquarelle Sorry public mobile does not support wifi calling you need Koodo or Telus for that feature
