Going to be traveling from Ontario, Canada to the US for a month. If I switch carriers (from Virgin to Public) and choose the current CANADA-US plan for $65 (https://subscribe.publicmobile.ca/en/on/activation/plans/60GB-5Gspeed1), knowing I need to turn Data Roaming on and choose either AT&T or T-MOBILE, since I won't be connecting to 5G as I have an iPhone 6 Plus, I'm assuming I'll be connecting to 4G/LTE then?

That's what it will usually roam on yes. I lived in the states for four months using a Iphone 7 and it used LTE most of the time.

- If voice calls are the issue you can try using WhatsApp calls or another app that makes wifi calls not regular calls.

You'll be fine for data and text, but you're going to have issues making phone calls due to the lack of VoLTE support for the iPhone 6 at Public Mobile.
But if you're changing providers anyway, why don't you consider Freedom Mobile? They have much cheaper Canada/US plans.

A potential issue is the iPhone 6 is not on the whitelist for VoLTE compatbile phones with Public mobile:
https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/ab/get-help/articles/volte
Having VoLTE compatbility is important for Voice calling in the United states since 3G network is decommissioned. T mobile has 2G network for talk, but the coverage is spotty depending on location.

@Hywrd iPhone 6 is not on Public Mobile's VoLTE list (which starts at iPhone 8 and newer) so you may have problems with voice calls. Do you know if your phone is VoLTE enabled? If not you would need to be able to connect to T-Mobile on 2G (there is no more 3G network in the USA and even 2G will be shutting down April 2).

HI @Hywrd
yes, you can access the 4G or LTE networks with T-Mobile & AT&T with your Canada-US plan on iPhone 6+

It really depends. You could be connected to 2G 4G or 5G. It just depends where you're going. But that's more for data speeds.
