Hi,
I have an LG old phone which I would like to replace. I am not sure whether any new phone will work just replacing PM sim card. What should I check before buying in specs?
Thank you.Nina

If you give us your budget and your must haves the community can offer suggestions, share their personal experiences and look for deals for you. Personally I think if you are looking for a new phone a dual SIM and a good camera are must haves for me and of course I have to get a good deal on it.

Any phone supporting PM's frequency will work.
It all depends on how much money you want to spend, do you have any brand preference, does screen size matters, etc.
I would definitely stick with big brands as Samsung, Motorola, etc. and avoid obscure brands no matter how cheap and great specs they have. Avoid buying from alibaba.
The more money you spend the newer phone with latest OS you will get. Will it be better than 3-4 years old phone it is up to you to determine. Some serious research is needed so you do not regret later.
I use Samsung Galaxy S7 and it works perfectly fine with PM and suits me in terms of screen size, speed, etc. I do not play games nor watch movies on the phone...
If I am to replace it Today, I will go with Samsung S10 as I consider it sweet spot in terms of price, size, speed, etc.
Beside reputable sellers where you can buy New, there are some other places where you can buy refurbished. Private sale (kijiji) is another place. All depends on your confidence (and luck) and depth of your pocket.

@Anonymous I did not post any links. I went to the compatibility checker. Copied what it says there for 4g 3g etc then I pasted.

@BeachNBeer : I recently had a bout with that. I think it might be links. This was a bug a while ago. But then even cleaning out everything I still got "moderated". Dunno. At least you were finally able to post something.
Edit: ... external links.

@BeachNBeer are you trying to attach pictures or links?
Or, you do you have explicit wording that you are posting?

Public Mobile uses the following frequency bands:
Always good to check whether a phone will work with any provider, especially Public Mobile. Use more than one source to be sure.

Maybe start of with how much money your willing to spend. Don't buy any wierd brand of phone no matter how cheap it is. Stick with buying a mainstream brand like Motorola, Samsung, Apple or Google Pixel for example.
Try to stick with buying new rather than used or refurbished, unless you really trust the source.

Hi @Ninako , Whether you buy from stores or private sell, make sure yours is a Canadian version of the phone and it should be good. If you have hesitation, make sure you ask the exact model number and we can try to lookup for you.

@Ninako : Pretty much any new phone sold in Canada for the Canadian market will work here. Just move your SIM over to it. Size matters.
Edit: You formulated just fine. Some people misinterpret things.

The Public Mobile Triple Punch SIM card fits most phones as it’s a Standard, Micro and Nano Prepaid SIM card all rolled into one; simply remove the SIM card in the size that fits and insert it into any phone.

Thank you for reply. I probably did not formulate correctly. I am not buying from PM online, but from other sources (Amazon, Costco, Bestbuy- have not decided yet).
