I changed my subscription part way through the month and wasn’t pro rated. The account ate an extra 50$. The only reason I switched was to get the 5$ a month off on a 3 month subscription. I did’t know that switching would cause me to loose the entire months payment that I had just made a few months prior. I want to have the amount reinstated to the account

You were switching from a 30-day cycle to a 90-day cycle - correct? It is a smart choice to make when done correctly.
Where I'm a tad confused is how switching caused you to lose the payment you say you made "a few months prior". Perhaps that was just a typo? It would have caused you to lose the remaining portion of the cycle that was left and paid for within the past 30 days.
So it appears you didn't read the written warnings when proceeding with the Immediate plan change? It happens - to many.
Customer Support Agents will highly unlikely do anything since this is how prepaid mobile services (with any provider) works, but you can try your luck, and with a little bit of humility and a courteous approach, they may meet you 1/2 way. (no guarantees!!!)

Live and learn if you didn’t read the fine print.

It warms you about this before confirming.

Hi @joelsg Here in the forums in multiple threads we as customers always recommend switching at renewal so you don't lose anything. I am 99% sure PM won't refund you. However, it never hurts to ask. If they do, please come back here and let us know. Here's a link to reach them.

Plans with Public Mobile are pre-paid so you pay for the full month of service regardless if you use it or not and they do not offer any pro-rated discounts. For the future if there is a plan that you are interested in you can schedule a plan change to take place on your next plan renewal. That way you do not lose out on service you already pay for and can get the plan you want for the future. Unfortunately in this instance you chose to make the change immediately so you got charged immediately and lost the remaining time on your previous plan.
