Activated my card how long to work?

VanessaLeitao
Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

I just activated my SIM card.

"Congratulations Vanessa!

Your SIM card is now active on Canada’s largest Mobile Network", so after I went and inserted my card on my unlocked phone and it still says No SIM.

How long does it take to start working?

@VanessaLeitao

Have you tried calling 1-855-4PUBLIC as instructed above?

VanessaLeitao
Good Citizen / Bon Citoyen

I went for the 35$ too yes.

Yes thank you to everyone who is trying to help.

I really don't understand why is taking so long and I can't do anything about it.

Just hoping they eventually answer back.

thank you all, seems like im not waiting in vein and i will be happy after for a long time

@claudedunn

Ok at least we know both your self serve account and your SIM card are affected leaving only the CSA's able to help you.....once you finally do get it sorted out ask for the $5/500min Canada wide calling add on to be added to your account to compensate for your long wait time. Kind of useless for your current plan but very useful if you choose to downgrade anytime in the future to the $15 plan. This compensation based on the assumption that your service gets sorted out today.

I tried tagging the CS team, private message them.. but still no one reply to help.. I can imagine how discourage and upset new customers will be...

@claudedunn once you started to use the Mobile data with no control.. it no going back.. lol

@claudedunn

Enable all your data saving tools on your device and test your data usage over a month or two and see if you really need the $35/3gb+2gb bonus plan. If you consistently stay around 1gb per month a downgrade to the $25 plan or even the $15 plan depending on usage could be in order. The savings per month ($10/$20) will offset the occasional purchase of the $15/1gb add on and/or the $5/500min canada wide calling add on ( both have no expiry and roll over every 30 days til completely consumed). Or you also have to option to change plans for a month with a planned trip and choose perhaps the $40/5gb plan for that 30 day cycle.

they dont have my number....it was worth a try!

i went with the 35 one with the bonus, im not a big phone user, but sometimes on a motorcycle trip, i like my maps apps to uptade, it might be overkill for me, i have a home ip phone that i mostly use, but the price was great, so i hope they fix me up.thanks for the good words

@VanessaLeitao @claudedunn

Could both of you call 1-855-4PUBLIC and enter your 10 digit phone number and listen to the info to see what account info if any that it gives you? This is the equivalent of phoning 611. This will help determine if your activation issue is just  SIM card provisioning or if it also affected your self serve account activation.

@claudedunn

This is an unusual blip in customer support service times that up until a couple of days ago were normally under a one hour wait time. A spam attack shouldn't delay wait times by this long nor a possible rewards applying glitch but encouragement by some members to recommend contacting customer support for every little thing could be having a boomerang affect that has now come to haunt us and more importantly truly urgent high priority cases affecting newly activated customers without service. I apologize for the delay and once you do have full service you will eventually be happy you had the patience to wait it out.

What plan did you activate ?

@VanessaLeitao  "need the phone now, and have to wait until someone fixes this."

For this, and any future glitches, check out the VoIP apps from Fongo & TextNow. Free calling and, almost free, texting while connected to wifi. Great backup for any cellular outage.

the way i see it, if they dont care about a a new custormer that tried 3 times and failed and was charged 3 times by monday, im cancelling  and staying with my actual pay per use provider who actually cares about new customer, this is not great publicity for Public Mobile

Defintly hope so

@VanessaLeitao @claudedunn

  Feel sorry about that.. and I understand PM discouraging you on you first encounter with them.  I hope they will clear up the backlog today and will reply shortly.

@CS_Agent   I see you just replied on another thread. .can you assist the 2 poor newly activated customers here?  They have been waiting for 2 days.. 48 hours are likely up soon.

The official wait times can be up to 48 hours.  Typically within a few hours, but it seems that the wait times are longer than usual recently.  In the good old days, when it was crazy busy and less CSAs, wait times were even 4-5 days.  Imagine having no service for 3-5 days.

Great, I guess I will wait 2 days, for a problem to be fixed that I didn't cause.

this is something from yesterday.  OP opened a ticket and  no response.  It is Activation related and I think this should be high priority ticket.  Please assist
