Is there anyone using a 4g phone on the 5g network (i assume you also subscribe to a 5g Public Mobile plan)

If yes, how is it working for you.

Hey @will13am that article isn't a good reference and has a ton of errors. LTE and 4G are really the same thing and should be considered interchangeable.

@cbPM51  Definitely PM wants you to move to 5G plan as you mention increase to monthly spend brings in more revenue. . And I’m sure they always want more customers and with plans  getting better priced overall it’s a win win as you say . Well said

Tx.  For many users faster it's better. To some faster speeds won't make them change from 4g to 6g plan

Tx for this.

So it is to PMs advantage to get more of us moved from 4g to 5g plans.

They increas income, get us off the network faster to allow more customers on.

The customer is happier with higher speeds too usually.

A win-win?!

I understand from my reading that by definition the 4g mnimum speed to quaify as 4g, is 100 mbs.

Less than 100 is really LTE.

In non technical terms, people use LTE and 4G as being similar.  Technically they are different.  In any event, the 3G/4G/5G terminology applied to Public Mobile plans has to do with the speed cap of the plans.  There is no relationship to network access or hardware compatibility.  All plans allow access on the 5G network.  As for speed performance, I think local network matters more than anything.  It is possible to have a 5G connection and low data speeds (< 100 mbits/s).  Note that currently the 5G is NSA (non standalone).  It leverages the 4G backbone.  Long story short, the only differentiator with 5G plans is the access to unlimited throttled data when the included data bucket is consumed.

hi @cbPM51 if your phone is 4G only, you cannot use the 5G network dur to technical limitations

But you can still join 5G plan for better speed on the 4G network.  Even with the 4G phone and 4G network, you will still get top speed of 250Mbps if you phone permits

@cbPM51  4G plan has up to 100mbs 5G is up to 250mbs . But even with phone set to 4G/LTE you will see better speeds of 100mbs being in 5G plan

add 4G/LTE I’d capabale  of 1GBps it’s just the 4G plan is capped  up to 100mbs

@cbPM51  Yes not a problem and you should get better speeds of 100mbs of a 4G plan with phone set to LTE on 5G plan
