5G 60GB Canada-US-Mexico plan for $34/month - inconsistent data

Gidoza

I got a text offering me the above plan.  I'm sure it's safe if it's from Public Mobile, but frankly I never trust anything that's texted to me...

Anyways I went to the website in my account, and the same plan listed there seems to cost $40/month (which makes no sense as there is one better plan for $40/month that I can see), or is Canada-only for $30/month.

This all sounds inconsistent - or is the plan that was texted to me only in existence in my text?

Thanks,

-G

It doesn't cost Public Mobile more to keep customers on Canada-US vs. Canada-US-Mexico plans. The Canada-US-Mexico plans cost Public Mobile more because it necessitates the need for additional roaming agreements with other carriers.

Anyway, I got the same offer, and I'll accept. Just read on some other forums to keep an eye on the app on subscription changes as some people have said they did this back in the fall and their subscription change had them changing to a "Canada only" plan, so they cancelled the change. Good luck.

@Gidoza

No new sim or esim rea’d.

Thanks I appreciate all these replies!

The reason I'm considering is mainly for the data, not so much US/Mexico.  I'm beginning doing sales in securities/insurance and visiting people in their homes to do this.  Currently I almost never use my data for anything other than GPS (and even then I often use the van GPS...from 2012, which is why I sometimes need the data for it), but if visiting people I won't always want to bother people for their WiFi when I just have data to load up my mobile system from my phone instead.

Now all this being said - I don't need a different SIM card when in the US/Mexico, do I?  I can just waltz over the border with my phone and it will keep working?  (my current plan already has this, but I never thought to ask before)

@Mchung

Unlimited calling to most any Cdn, Mx or us number… whilst in any of the 3 countries.

@Gidoza

It’s a valid offer from Public Mobile. Would be good if planning to be in Mx soon. Just remember though… will be difficult to downgrade plan once you’re done with Mx/us.

I received the same offer. My plan is currently $34 with US and 50gb. With the new offer its a bonus 10gb and 500 long distance minutes. And now Mexico is included. I assume its still unlimited Canada and US wide minutes and unlimited messaging as well. That was not mentioned in the text.

yes, "5474" is a valid short code and is from Public Mobile

and true, these offers have expiry date, so, you might not see it again if you missed

5474 is the "number" it's from.

It asks me to reply "YES" and it'll upgrade.

I'm not sure if I need it right now, but it might be useful a few months from now.  But I guess offers like these show up all the time?

The texted plans are typically special offers, you won't see them elsewhere. They usually ask you to sign up by replying with 'YES'

I received the same offer via text.

@Gidoza don't click on any link of the text if you don't trust

but what shortcode it sent from?  we can confirm if it is reliable.

or you can also ask PM if there is such plan if you want to change to it.. Just open a ticket with PM.

@Gidoza  It’s not uncommon for public mobile to offer tarted offer by text and is usually better deal then what you will see in website , main thing is the offer is one that will up your monthly  spend and that what all carriers care about the most so if you like the offer that reply YES to it and it will change to that plan on your next renewal
