500 one-time Int'l LD bonus and Int'l Texting

I have 500 one-time Int'l LD bonus and Int'l Texting and picture messaging is included with my $40.00 plan. I have traveled from Canada to Flordia USA and calls from US to Canada will not ring through and I went to send a text and or picture it advised that I did not Int'l texting so I added on the $8.00 Int'l Texting and now I can send and receive texts but can't send pictures.  If these items are part of my plan then why did I have to purchase an add on for texting and why is my picture texting and phone calls not working?  Any solutions ?

Budget brands often don't offer all fot he features that are available as to make the offerings at the other brands that Telus owns different.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but since it is past July 1st now, does that mean that the US text and talk boosters will no longer work?  It appears that PM is still selling them.

@DavidO  You meant the Text and Talk Add-on?

Technically it still works

the 3G network is in the process of shutting down, but it is not a hard shutdown.  Not all 3G network disappear overnight.  Many area still have 3G network that PM voice needs.

AT&T has the process started in Feb, so, more area got 3G shut down

But T-Mobile only started 2 weeks ago. You will get better chance of connecting a T-Mobile 3G than AT&T

And, T-Mobile still has 2G network which PM voice can use.  So, as long as there is a T-Mobile 2G there , your voice call can go through

So, if you need one, buy it and try to connect to T-Mobile first

And you might want to buy roaming data as well.     PM data can travel on LTE.  So, as long as you can connect to T-Mobile and AT&T, your data roaming will work.

That helps because you can download VoIP app like TextNow and you can make calls using the app.  This get you connected to voice call on a different number using the app.  Best workaround in case you cannot make calls on your PM phone number

@Bulldog

All current market plans on offer by pm only have features that work while you are in Canada. Public mobile only offers roaming add ons for use in the US only for a period of 10 days that run on a 24 hour clock from the time of purchase. They expire 240 hours after purchase. The only exception is the ability to recieve incoming SMS texts on your pm phone number while in the US.

With the decommissioning of the 3G network by pm's roaming partners at&t and T-Mobile as soon as July 1st 2022 there will be an inability for pm customers to use their voice call services as well while roaming in the US without access to a 3G network.

The best workaround for these issues would be to download a voip provider like textnow that offers free calling and texting on WiFi and mobile data. Purchase a 10 day US Roaming data add on. You can receive incoming pm SMS texts. You can send and receive MMS texts. You can send SMS texts on text now along with send and receive voice calls. MMS texting works but doesn't count against your roaming data. Calls and outgoing SMS on textnow will only use your mobile data while away from WiFi. A US Roaming data add on will provide you with all of your services on your phone albeit in a slightly round about way.

@Bulldog  - you will need your Data option on to send/receive MMS messages.

Sending pictures via text requires cellular data. You only bought the texting part. Go ahead and buy one of the roaming data add-ons and you can do pictures.

@Bulldog

International LD calling and texting can only use while in Canada and not from USA.

You will need USA Roaming Add-on to use from USA.

You would have to purchase a US Roaming Add On (10 days), you have a few diff options for that.

The LD and texting you mentioned is only from within Canada
