30 day wait to port number?

Kang8690

I am currently on Rogers with a 416 number

Today I registered on freedom mobile with a new phone number (647) and waiting for my public mobile SIM to arrive.

Question is, if I port the 647 number to the public mobile during activation, and later port my original 416 number, I heard some users are getting blocked due to a 30 day rule of some sort?

The restriction is based on phone number changes.  When you port in at the same time as activation, that isn't considered a change, but rather the original phone number that belongs to the account.  You'll be able to port another number in as soon as the first port has been completed. In this case, make sure that you Freedom Mobile number has been fully ported in first, and confirmed that the promotional data bonus is actually in your account before you change your number to a different one.

No, you will not be blocked from porting number after sign up even if you already requested to port in during activation. The process is similar when you pick a new number during activation and it allows you to port in later on. Its confirmed by the mod here.

The transfer of the Freedom number during activation does NOT count as a number change. So, as soon as the PM account is active with the Feedom number any number may be ported over. After that, there would be a 30 day delay.

My original plan is

1. Order public mobile SIM
2. Register with freedom mobile with brand new number (647number)
3. Activate public mobile with the brand new number(647 number)
4. Then port in my original number (416 number )to overlap the 647 number.

Can anyone tell me if my steps are correct?

@Kang8690, you can change your number once every 30 or is it 90 days.  I know people who created a new number then ported their old number in a day later without issue so i don't know why porting your Freedom number in then porting your other number in would be required to wait 30 days.  But it may.
