Getting frustrated with PM treatment of existing customers

Chiranjiv

Not being able to get an answer about the deals offered to new customers even though I have been with public for 6 years. When I am logged into my account, the deals disappear. Seems like PM is on Rogers footsteps. They will lose me as a customer for sure. Not going to put up with  this treatment and lack of customer service. Chat bots are so dumb,

This isn't a matter for a customer support agent.  Customer support agents aren't involved with the decision of plan offersing and who is eliigible.  That's done by a separate department.

As a 5+ year Public Mobile customer, I have also been annoyed by the inability for loyal customers to get better plans.

I was on the $25 1gb plan for years. But recently I began to use more data. Not much more, I think a 2gb plan would suffice. But can I upgrade to the $24 4gb plan? Nope. The $29 10gb plan they had last month? Nope, wasn't one of the few that got that (happy for those who did though).

I ended up upgrading to the Black Friday $34 40gb plan, which I'm happy I was able to, but when I only need 2gb, it's kind of annoying I have to pay an extra $9 a month when I see a $24 4gb plan.

I get that this is just the way companies do things now, it's just sad to see. My wife is with Fido, they wouldn't let her switch to a better deal Black Friday deal last month. Contacted Fido's online customer service on boxing day, got ahold of a human quickly, told them that my wife was going to leave for Chatr for a better deal, and within 30 minutes they offered a better plan than Chatr, less expensive than she was currently paying for my data. That was great service.

I get that as a long-term Public Mobile customer I have a loyalty bonus and auto-pay discount, which is the only reason I haven't jumped ship.

They way businesses work is normally by segmentation of user types and thinking about these user types as a whole. The ones that are loyal already have discounts and from the business point of view might not make sense to give them more discounts (or might make sense in some other situations). What I am trying to say is that while individually it might make sense that given you are a very loyal customer and that you should get the new deals as a whole PM might or might not want to even retain all "loyal" users. While people can voice their opinions here, nobody knows exactly if that will be heard or whether they'll introduce these new deals for existing users.

But from my overall experience with PM, they have been generally very good with giving deals for existing users. For example I introduced PM to one of my family members and they started with 40 dollar plan with 5GB, but now they are on 40GB plan for 34 dollars; after getting several deals that came about. This took a few years probably but overall was a good experience for them. My general impression is that everyone might not get what they want; but I think you might get some middle ground in terms of deals in the long run. For example I know some 25 dollar (1 GB) plans were able to upgrade to the 29 dollar (10 GB) plan some weeks back when it was briefly opened to everyone. And some of my friends upgraded to the 34 dollar (40GB) one as they thought it was more value for money. While this may not be for everyone and some of us might not be wanting even 10GB and looking for less data plans I think we might get some middle ground (maybe have the option to upgrade to the 29 dollar plan again etc) if we keep looking.

I was thinking to get new $24 / 4gb offer with a new account also. But realized porting between public mobile to another public mobile is no allowed, so I can't keep same phone number. So yeah it is frustrating for existing customer like me.

It is discouraging that existing customers have to forfeit loyalty rewards to get on to the new exclusive plans. I expect that existing customers will eventually get similar offers, even if it means getting on to a 90 day plan.

If you have been here for 6 years you are getting at least $7 in discounts. If you upgrade to the $40 5G 60 GB plan you will be paying only $33 which is still better than the $34 plan from the other companies.

Why not this then. Seems pre

tty enticing. No more frustrations with public mobile.

I think it is counterintuitive and blatantly useless. For almost no existing customer service, one has to think if saving a few dollars is worth the frustration. I would rather pay more for the provider with a direct phone line or any other way of communication. Never thought I would say that, but it is time to move on I think.

This year, we've seen some changes evolving in PM world. The plan structure has changed...some for the better. The recent offer of $24 / 4GB's plan is aimed at attracting new customers. I'm hoping that PM will have some similar enticement for existing clients soon...I could be rong though. I've read where existing clients started new accounts so they could benefit from that $24 deal. It is tempting eh.

unfortunately, best deals are usually for new activations instead of existing subscribers, it is pretty much an industry standard practice with mobile and home internet.
