I'm travelling to Paris from BC, Canada and have never had to purchase a different sim card for travel, so any advice would be appreciated. Just going for a week. Also where is the best place to purchase? I've seen some on amazon but thought I'd ask on here for recommendations.

Orange Travel is a French cellular provider. They sell both SIM or eSIM. For €19.99, you get 14 days, 8GB of 4G/LTE data, unlimited talk and text all over Europe, 30 min international call and 200 international texts (for communicating back to Canada. I used Orange in Germany and Spain last year and plan to use it again in Portugal in September.
You can buy Orange online. The eSIM is best if your phone is compatible. They will send eSIM to you online and you can be set up so it acrivates when you land in Europe:
If you have a dual sim phone, make sure you toggle PM off. If you leave it active, it will search for signal and will use up your battery. Have a good trip.

will you have access to free wifi for the week ? If so, consider downloading free voip app such as TextNow, which uses wifi.
You'll select a free Cdn phone number that you can use to call back to Canada or USA...for free. You'll be able to send / receive free texts. Most resorts, motels, cafes and malls have free wifi now.
