Hi I have the public mobile new SIM card package on hand and trying to porting the carrier from Fido but after I filled all the information online, the system just keeps getting stuck showing working on at least 10 mins. I tried to updated the web then everything needs to fill start again. I tried so many times and I just thought it might be the internet problem but after all I realized it might be the system issue?Do you guys have any idea about how to activate the new sim?

@ling63

Do you have a prepaid or postpaid fido account? Unless you have a prepaid account that is on day 28 to 30 and you are worried about having to pay for a new 30 day cycle just wait to port your number to public mobile until after you have activated and you have confirmed that your pm Sim card has all of its working services (texts, calls, data) and you can log into your self serve account. Then you can port in thru your self serve account.

While there shouldn't be an issue with the time you request porting there are reported cases of Rogers/Fido agents when porting into their mobile service that leave the port requests recieved after 6pm for the next morning. Given that it's a holiday weekend it wouldn't surprise me if your port request is causing your activation to hang on the circle of death.

If you have confirmed no credit card charge for your plan amount has recorded and you have waited one hour since your last attempt try again following this method.....

  1. Clear your browser.
  2. Close all tabs and reboot your device.
  3. Open only one tab on your browser.
  4. Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Microsoft Edge work best.
  5. Use secret/incognito mode if necessary (but you are probably good without it.)

Choose a temporary phone #. If you pick one from Alberta you will save the pst and only pay gst on your plan at activation. Screenshot the page (or write down) your email, password and 4 digit account pin #. Do the same for page 4 after you have entered your referral code and any promocode you may have and they are accepted with a little checkmark. Finally print or screenshot your transaction summary after a successful activation as it contains important account info like your account #. Put this info in a safe and secure place for future reference.

Insert the pm Sim card in your phone and reboot. Check that you can send/recieve texts, calls and use mobile data. If all is good with your Sim card then try logging into your self serve account. Allow at least 10 minutes to pass after your activation has completed before logging into your account but this time definitely use secret/incognito mode. Send the 2FA verification code to your phone via the SMS text option. Enter the 6 digit code but do not press "done" or "enter" just wait about 10 seconds for access to be granted. You can disable 2FA on the profile page.

The change phone number feature is also onthe profile page. Best to wait to port your phone number in during daylight hours (in your case) on a holiday weekend. When you do enter the following info....

  1. Full name on your fido account.
  2. Fido account #.
  3. Fido phone #.
  4. Alternate phone #. (Optional but use a family member's or a work #.)

Once you submit your request immediately put your fido Sim card in your phone and reply YES to the PAT (porting authorization text) within 90 minutes of receiving it. Put your pm Sim card back in  your phone and reboot.

Your port will complete within a few minutes to a maximum of 2 hours. Your fido Sim card will stop working and your account will automatically close. Your incoming calling to your "fido" phone # will now be recieved on your pm sim card.

Try a couple of things, go in a laptop or desktop computer to activate your new SIM then clear the cache on your browser and go incognito.

Remember to leave the old SIM in your phone and reply to the text confirming you are porting over from Fido.

Do you see charges on your credit card?  No charges means you can try again.  Use incognito mode when you do it.  Wait until daylight because maintenance is done at night.  If there's charges on your card, don't keep trying or you might get chargged many times.
