service is mixed up with old number still

i changed my number over a year ago, yet my old number keeps sending and receiving texts . It is very strange and I have no idea whats happening

How did you change your number?  Via the self service account, choosing a new mobile number?  Porting over from another company?

What about incoming phone calls?  outgoing calls? data?  

Which model phone?  Which messaging app?
