registering a credit card?

i don't know what planet Telus comes from (let alone what galaxy) .... but having to REGISTER a credit card in order to make simple payments has GOT TO BE ILLEGAL

someone from PM should refer me to their LEGAL DEPARTMENT

I hear ya. I have similar concerns. 
It’s a convenience to have it register and be ready to use. You can use it online and I believe over 611. 

So don’t get peeved with me, yet. 
I said convenience. And suggest to use 611. 

I have 3 accounts and oldest is over 4 years old. I have never used 611 nor would I ever see the need to, nor do I now how to dial it properly. 

The convenience comment. You might have to suck it up and accept it. Amazon does it, Telus does it etc. And some you can pay, then remove it from being registered. If I buy from Amazon, when the item arrives, I remove the card.  I supposedly feel better that if Amazon gets hacked that my card info won’t be there. BUT is it really not there? Or is it just removed so I can’t see it and it’s still on their system. Who knows. 

Or leave a highly protected credit card on PM. 

Or put on a $25 prepaid Mastercard and pay from vouchers from 711 as suggested. Pay before your due date and the prepaid card remains intact. Or ask some one here for a fund less, but not expired prepaid Mastercard number. WARNING though…set up a hybrid auto pay system yourself. Then no worries about the card on file. 

Suggest…pay 2 months in advance then 1 month on the second Thursday of the month or your choice of a regular day or date. 

If you use the prepaid Mastercard, don’t forget to buy gasoline a month before it expires and then put another one on your account.

You can register a CC but you can disable Subscribe if you don’t want PM to automatically withdraw your 30 day subscription from your CC.

All top tier and mid tier carriers at kiosk require a CC and a piece of Photo ID.

Guess you also have a beef about a 30 day cycle and not monthly cycle. 😂

Nobody responding here has declared publicly that they are a lawyer so legal assertions can not be offered.
There are other ways to pay. And a workaround with the credit card is to use a prepaid visa gift card kind of card. You could also enter in a zero balance card and use the other payment methods.
If you like the zero balance card idea I can give you the particulars.

@surferdude All carriers in Canada has to compliant with rules setup out CRTC, so, whatever they are doing now, especially the part about using credit card to be is legal

On the other hand, you don't have to use credit card to make  "simple" payments, you can use vouchers.  Buy vouchers from stores like SDM/London Drug/711/Shell or online at recharge.com/ding.com/muskbird.com and pay using *611
