@Circus- I am suggesting that the agents are wrong too many times to have lost faith in their replies to policy and function. It should put a whole different perspective on them because too often they have been wrong on these kinds of questions. They seem mostly fine with service problems and goodwill credits. Not policy or function.

@Circus- You actually asked if all phones were capable of 5G? Um, of course not. As computergeek541 has been saying though, as with 3G speed, 4G speed and now 5G speed plans, it's about speed. Not network connection. I have a phone that can connect to 5G and shows it in the top bar but I'm on a 3G speed plan so it certainly doesn't give me 5G speed just because I'm connected to it. Yes, that's different from not having a phone that can do 5G to begin with. But the plans are about speed.
Examine line 2 of the image above. LTE. 253 Mbps. That phone is apparently also capable of 5G network connection but I have to assume he is showing a speedtest with the phone set to LTE. Line 3 shows a 3G network connection which is more than the stated 3Mbps (3G speed) because HSPA is not throttled iirc.

Please don't take replies from agents as the final truth. They are too often not the truth.

Even if you don't have a 5G compatible device, I'd recommend staying on that Plan because even at a 4G speed you won't find a better price with Unlimited Data like that.

If it's a 5G Plan being used on a 4G Speed, it will just run at 4G Speeds. (Even Bell and Telus who are activating people like seniors using an iPhone 6 on simple $30 Call+Text only BYOD Plan.. Even those are considered 5G, but they are just throttled to what the phone can handle and support.

A 5G netwwork capable phone isn't needed to take full advantage of a 5G plan. Public Mobile's marketing is using "5G" to mean a maximum speed of 250Mbps.  Depending on network condition and location, that's possible on many phones that don't have 5G network connectivitiy (although many older LTE devices have a maximum LTE download speed of 150Mbps).

According to PM CS AGENT. You are incorrect and this OP is correct  please just contact PM  or Apple to verify

There's no need to contact a customer support agent or Apple as I agree with you that a 5G capable phone is required to a connect to a 5G network. However, you've once again entirely ignored the facts that a 5G network capabole phone is not required to use the full speeds of Public Mobile's plans.

@ Cirucs

Apple? OP has an iPhone?

@Circus- Before declaring that the OP is right, we need to hear back from them if they got data going after the provided suggestions. We may never hear back though.

Long story short, keep the $45 • 30GB Unlimited Data Plan, you won't find better and your not wasting any money keeping it because of the 5G.

@Roohullah

what model is your phone?

its an APN settings issue

Start with Reset All Networks

If that does not work, update the APN as follows:

APN: sp.mb.com
Proxy:
Port:
Username: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Server:
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMS Proxy: mmscproxy.mobility.ca
MMS Port: 8799
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
Authentication Type: Not Set
APN Type: default,supl,mms
         or    default,mms,agps,supl,fota,hipri
(might need to include DUN for hotspot, please note case sensitive)
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
APN enable/disable: APN enabled
or  Turn APN on/off APN turned on
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO (Mobile virtual network operator) type: GID
MVNO (Mobile virtual network operator)value: 4D

@Roohullah  Can you try the SIM card in another phone to test . See if services are working . I also assume you have data turned on in phone settings . It could also be something in your VPN settings

@Roohullah no worry, even your phone does not have 5G, you can still access 4G LTE with better speed than the capped speed of 100Mbps on 4G speed plan.  And even 5G phone does not use 5G all the time for battery saving.  So, you didn't loss much

A phone doesn't need to be comaptible with the 5G network to receive full speeds of a 5G plan at Public Mobile.  While the 5G network would certainly help, 250Mbps speeds are fully possible on the LTE network.
