So starting Wednesday, I've been unable to connect to 3G and thus can't make or receive calls. Data and texts work, but my phone isn't VOLTE capable so I can't make calls without the 3g connection. I tried my sim in another phone that is VOLTE capable and everything worked until I turned off VOLTE, at which point I had the same issue. I contacted support and they said there was nothing they can do, but I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue or have any idea why it might be happening?

Depending on your phone model, you might be able to check if 3G 1900 is being used in certain locations. I can't remember if Edmonton 850 re-farm is done yet

I've already factory reset the phone and unfortunately that didn't help. I knew 3G would be phased out eventually, I just didn't expect to lose my connection quite so suddenly 🙂
Will try it in other parts of the city as you suggested to see if it's just a new coverage issue

Maybe try a network reset of phone. Note: this will erase any saved Wifi passwords.
You might want to try your phone in different locations in Edmonton to see if the same issue. Unfortunately, eventually the 3G network will be phased out.
You may need to consider to purchase another VoLTE compatible phone to have talk with PM.

@Thought There have been a few people on here mention VoLTE problems while in Canada lately. Rogers is shutting down their 3G next year (previously announced for March but now July) so the loss of 3G in Canada seems to be starting (as @sheytoon just noted). I had an android on another carrier that was VoLTE capable but not approved, I "retired" it and although I don't use it regularly I downloaded the voip app Fongo so that it can still make calls over wifi. It could use data for Fongo if I had a sim in it as it can do LTE. So that's one option if you have really lost 3G in your area. Hopefully it's only a temporary glitch.

sounds like you are in USA...correct ? Well they have retired most of their 3G networks in US, so you need a volte enabled cellphone that's on the PM whitelist of volte enabled cellphone. You can try manually seletcing 2G and T-Mobile might work...but sounds like that's finished too.

@Thought, just confirming you are in Canada? Are you in a different location than you normally would be when your phone was working normally? What network band to you have your phone set to currently? If it's set to 5G try changing it to 4G/LTE
