error performing request unknown error fail. iphone voicemail.

I searched for an answer for months. Got this error when I press the voicemail box.

I found the answer today, in this forum!

geogolem in 2016 pointed to Rogers. His link doesnt work any more but searching for iphone and voicemail will bring it up.

The customer wasn't asking about how to use voicemail or for voicemail retrieval numbers.  The customer was sharing some findings.

tried to do some troubleshooting,

How to > Reset Network Settings

and  Switch to 3G

Update iOS > Go to Settings > General > Software Update..and rebooting device.

No error with a Telus SIM in it.

Same error on a iphone 5c SE 6s with public SIM.

@Malch was it because your iPhone wasn't set up with the proper VM number earlier?  This step basically set the number back, right?
