changing to a different phone

I am changing phones to a different model refurbished phone.  (samsung s10+ to s23).  I would also like to change my plan to support 5g.  I am hoping that I can just transfer my sim card, if it fits and if it has survived a short sojourn in the toilet (first time for everything!).  Can I just swap over the sim chip?  Or do I need to visit a kiosk?  Obviously I will need to purchase a new sim chip if the old one is corrupted.

@greghd honestly, I switched from Asus Zenfone 3 with a normal SIM and went down to nano SIM to my new phone. I was literally pooping my pants, cutting this down to size. I did test it first on cardboard, and then had a spare PM SIM card to test as well, and then tried it...but in the end, I did messed up and read online (it might have been @computergeek541 who suggested that I can do swap and the switch via the account — and were right! it was much easier than saying 1-2-3!

All plans allow access to the 5g network (even the ones advertised as being 3g or 4g).  It's also possible to get the full speeds of a Public Mobile 5g plan on a phone that doesn't support the 5g network.

HI @greghd

you can just put the sim card to the new phone.  Of course, make sure it is dry and clean 🙂

if it does not work, you will then buy a new one.

Buy a PM physical sim card form Telus or Koodo store or via Amazon:

 Telus or Koodo store https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/pick-up-SIM
Amazon.ca https://www.amazon.ca/Public-prepaid-postpaid-Activate-Allinone/

Then message support agent and ask them to help to update your account with the new sim card:
