Why isn't AutoPay tracked as a recurring bill payment?

nitroblu

The credit card I use on my AutoPay gives me rewards for recurring bill payments. PM AutoPay is the only service that does not get recognized by my credit card as a "recurring bill payment" type, even though all other services I use it for are correctly recognized.

Is this something that needs to be updated on the PM system side? Or is this working as expected for others and it's just my credit card account having issues?

I have been looking into why my credit card issuer is not recognizing PM's their monthly PAP as Reoccurring so that I received my additional PAP loyalty rewards.   I work in the banking sector as an IT professional, and I can tell you that the reason our Credit Card providers are not recognizing PM's transactions as Reoccurring Payments is soley because they are not putting the 'R' flag in the Reoccuring Payment field on their transaction that they submit to the credit card companies.   That is it... it has nothing to do with 30 day billing cycle, or that the amount changes... it is purely the simpliest IT change ever... and they are not doing it for us.   sad.

This is purely based on how Public Mobile is classified as a merchant and how the payments are processed.  It would cost Public Mobile more to process payments if these payments were classifified as recurring subscriptions.  Many companies who you would think count as recurring actually don't.  A good example of that is Netflix.

@hTideGnow : I know of a forum that keeps the history of edits done. It's a great feature.

Not sure how long a grace period might be for high participating regulars for getting full familiarity.

@Anonymous : I'm thinking you edited your post but _now_ the customer doesn't need the CSA's. They can't fix it. Your post previously had your copy/paste of all the entering a payment card stuff.

Sorry @nitroblu , PM Autopay is not consider as reoccuring payment on Credit cards.  It does not setup the same way as Pre-Authorized payment on the credit card side.  It is in fact a setup on the Public Mobile as to allow PM to pull the payment monthly.  The way it setup is different.  Many customers already checked with Credit Card companies and confirmed that.

Sorry, not something we can do.  😞

There is a tread with the very same question started today. Using search before posting will make less treads and same answers (or suggestions) duplicated. Just a suggestion, do not kill a messenger.

PM autopay is not classified as recurring payment by credit card companies. One of the reasons PM charges every 30 days (not exactly same day every month) which is not likely.

The other reason is that PM is not sending proper flag to CC company that this IS recurring payment.

I subscribe to a service which charges me every 30 days and I DO get cash rewards for recurring payment.

@nitroblu    It's probably due to the fact that PM bills every 30 days which means a different date every month and usually for reoccurring bills the date is fixed every month.
