I will continue to use a physical sim until phones don't have slots or carriers stop offering them. It's so much easier (and cheaper) to change phones on the fly with a physical sim. I then use esim for a secondary travel esim.

HI @Sushi_Combo but not if you change phones a lot
I have a friend who got a new phone, used eSIM, but the phone had problem, he went for repair (not replacement), he need to buy an esim for the temp. phone for the 5 days when the "new" phone gone for repair. Then the phone came back and he bought another esim again. But the phone went broken again. At that moment, he gave up, he went back physical

Big fan of the convenience of an ESIM.

I am still with the regular SIM on my iPhone 14 Pro Max because of the flexibility I can get with it.
Just got the Samsung S24 and I swap the SIM between phones by just popping in out and installing it into the other.
With eSIM you can't do that. You need to purchase an eSIM for each phone and you can't have the same number on both phones.

eSIM has it pros and cons. If is easy and quick to activate as in you can activate anytime without waiting to go out and and buy sim card. Also, you can install multiple eSIMs on the same phone at the same time and enable the one you need quickly, best for travel purposes
but the major drawback is that you cannot move them across devices. If you switch devices or delete by accident, you need to pay to re-buy a new one
