you need voice or data? or both
For voice, you will need T-Mobile 2G network, according to https://www.gsma.com/coverage/#466 , T-Mobile has 2G there, so, no worry
For data, you can use LTE on both AT&T and T-Mobile, so, you should be good
But , if you are going long , or need lots of data, it is better to get local data sim card there than buying expensive roaming add-ons

Talk is very dodgy these days. Text and data should be fine. For talk, connect to T-Mobile as they have arranged that we can use their old 2G network. Your phone needs to be able to do 2G though. But coverage may be spotty as well.
There's no way to "make sure". Just as there's no way to make sure at home.
