Thanks for your reply. Iam staying in Saint John, NB, Canada. I bought the sim card in Toronto and that may be the reason. When i dial the number the phone prompt says I dont have credit for long distance call. Wondering how to change my location from Toronto to Saint John, New Brunswick province in Canada.

The 50/50 plan (as well as the long distance add-on that can be used to get more minutes on it) is Canada wide, so no problem even if you have a Toronto number.

If you click on the link I posted above it will "talk" you through the process of adding minutes in the form of a long distance add-on to your plan step by step.

That ain't it. Do you have a Saint John number? Even if you had a Toronto number and was In Saint John trying to make a call to a Saint John number it would still consider it a local call. It is because you used up you 50 mins and PM does not have overages. You must purchase an add-on to keep making calls.

Check the addon has been purchased correctly as @wetcoaster says. Also, note that sometimes the long distance message will come on even if it isn't long distance if the call goes through don't worry about it.

In addition to @jp2's excellent point: dialing the full phone number in the +1 xxx xxx xxxx format usually disables the long distance prompt.

One thing that seems to be not entirely clear in this conversation about the $10/50minutes/50texts plan: Public Mobile is different from other prepaid providers in that they don't offer pay-as-you-go minutes or texts. You need to purchase the plan feature and/or add-on in order to be able to call/text/use data.

If you are running out of minutes or texts before the end of the cycle on a regular basis it might be worthwhile buying the unlimited version.

When you add money to your account it does not renew your plan. After the 30 day plan period than it will renew if funds avaialble or you have autopay enabled. You can purchase the 200 LD plan that will enable you to make calls, local or LD.

Looks like you've run out of minutes before the end of your cycle and you are trying to add a long distance add-on to get more minutes?

Buying add-ons is a two step process. Go back into the add-on tap and select the according add-on again. Now that you have available funds you are able to activate it.

We need more information here...

Is this a new activation? Have you used a plan before and it's expired?

Have you checked the seating of your Public Mobile SIM card in your compatible phone and have rebooted the phone?
