USA-CAD 40gb Plan

Hey Everyone, Just signed up for the Can-US plan that is finally offered to all of Canada!

Might be a dumb question but if I were to just sign up for the Canada only plans and went down to the US, how would that work without buying a US add on? Roam like home and what not doesn't exist at Public so would your phone just be blocked from using US cell service? I'm coming from a post-paid plan and generally just curious on how all this works

Thanks in Advance

Hi @RSP93

your phone would still connect, but you will only be able to receive text.  You won't receive calls or cannot make calls or text and no data

If you didn't have the US plan and you didn't purchase a US roaming add-on, you'd still be able to connect to T-Mobile but you wouldn't be able to do anything except receive incoming text messages.

No services in Alaska unfortunately. T-Mobile does not have a native network there, and because that's our only roaming partner we have no roaming service available there. We used to have access to AT&T as well, but that changed.

It will connect to T-Mobile if your networks are on automatic. You should get a welcome to the us text. You can receive texts without an add-on.

Yes it is true. As we know it, so far, still.

Thank you for your Reply, so if you were on a Canada Only Plan and did not add an US roaming package would your phone just not connect to T-Mobile? I am just generally Curious.

Also I travel for work and end up in Anchorage Alaska sometimes. I read we are not able to connect to At&T anymore and T mobile does not have towers in Alaska. Is this True?

@RSP93

there is no roam like home with PM

Without a Canada-US plan, you would have to pay for roaming add-on to use the service in US.  All roaming addon are 15 days in lenght.   A Talk/Text/Data(3GB) would cost you $30 .   So, the $50 plan you got is a great plan even you go to US once a month.

and a reminder, make sure your phones connects to T-Mobile to use the service.  Also, enable Roaming Mobile Data and VoLTE on your device

If you didn't get a Canada/US plan, you'd have to buy a roaming add-on if you wanted service in the US. They are 15 day packages. The only free service you can access without a roaming add-on is incoming text messages.

No roam like home type feature with Public Mobile, but to be honest the add-ons are better value anyway. And unfortunately there are no roaming services beyond the US (e.g. no service in Mexico).

But because you're on the Canada/US plan it should all be seamless for you. Just make sure you have network selection set to automatic, and that you have data roaming turned on (on your phone).
