USA Add-ons fail in Florida!!!

Sandra_LeFort
Great Neighbour / Super Voisin

I am angry! I and my family came to Orlando, Florida and neither of the USA PACKAGES provide me with service. I paid for the Talk & Text pkg and couldn't get service. I then paid again for the Talk, Text and Date pkg...still no service. So  $50+ later...still 'phone stranded'....very upset and angry. To all of you PM users...beware. How do I fix this...? Sandra

The most common issues:

1) Your phone is in 5G mode instead of 4G mode

2) You forgot to turn Data Roaming on on the device

3) You're not connected to T-Mobile or AT&T

4) Your phone is not VoLTE compatible

Critical part to US roaming depends on T-Mobile/AT&T coverage and whether you can connect successfully onto either network.

If the phone is not connecting to T-Mobile/AT&T, change the Network Connection from Automatic to Manual and select and test both T-Mobile and AT&T and see which one you can connect.

If your issue is with data, make sure your Roaming Mobile data is enabled and you have disabled your mobile data limiter.  Also change your network mode to 4G (and don't try 5G until you can connect and works on 4G)

If your issue is with voice, make sure VoLTE is enabled on the device setting.  And if it does not work, try to change the Network to T-Mobile ONLY, and change  Preferred Network Type or Network Mode to 2G and see if the calls go through.
Also, you can download VoIP app TextNow as a workaround to make calls and text if you have Wifi or if your roaming has data component and data  is working

@Sandra_LeFort

you should be able to recieve text messages even without add-on...you won't be able to send texts without the add-on.  Make sure to enable Roaming Data in settings. What kinda cellphone you using ? Some phones aren't volte enabled by PM...you'd need a phone that will drop to 2G for calls.

@Sandra_LeFort - Is your phone VoLTE compatible? Check here: Is your phone VoLTE compatible?

If it doesn't show up on the list, manually select T-Mobile & put it on 2G / EDGE / GSM. That will ensure that your phone will work in the USA.

Try turning on Data Roaming or resetting network settings. Or just do a simple reboot of your phone.

Try to change the network mode to 4G or LTE, make sure VoLTE is enabled and try both AT&T and T-Mobile.

If you have no VoLTE or connection still fails, change the network to 2G and try again using T-Mobile.

Many people complain about US service. Everybody should read this forum before deciding on US service either as add-on or included in a plan. Experiences vary from customer to customer; some are happy with US service some have no connection at all.
