Hey guys, just trying US phone, texting, and data for the first time (from Orlando). Phone and texting is working great - connects to AT&T. However, I am having a weird problem with my data. http browsing works fine from a browser - as an example http://www.telus.com - but no sites that requires https - like https://www.shaw.ca, https://www.google.ca. The only https site that seems to work is https://www.publicmobile.ca. The rest just report "the site can't be reached" and that they "took too long to respond". None of my apps work with data either - like gmail, weathernetwork, cnn, amazon, etc. They just throw a connection error. I assume because these apps are also using encryption?! I tried using a vpn client as well and am not able to connect. All of these worked fine in Canada using data. I checked my account and my US add-ons are active and it shows that I am using a small amount of data (for my http browsing). Did I miss setting something up? I setup my apn as per one of the email threads but no luck. Any thoughts? Thx!

Thanks for the replies. Looks like many other people are having similar issues with US roaming data so I will stop messging with my phone and live with it. I have PM'd and they will keep me up-to-date if anything changes.

@Tup based on @PostPunk's response here, I don't think that's likely to work, unfortunately. 😞

Can you try to select T-Mobile instead of AT&T or is a person locked in to who they choose the first time?

@kgmer2012 here is a related thread you may want to follow for updates:

Seems AT&T is having issues with their data, so no matter what you do it won't matter.
Good find by @Shutdown.
Could be a temporary US carrier issue.

Hopefully this is not a feature of US roaming data because there are more https sites them http.

Thankd for the response. Great list - here is what I have tried:
- connects to wifi
- data is turned on and roaming
- US data is in my plan
- tried the card in two other phones and they have the same problem with US data (iPhone SE and iPhone 5c)
- deleted and recreated APN
- airplane mode toggled off and on many times
- removed SIM for 5 mins and rebooted
- network is set to 3G
- Phone is Google Nexus 4
- Phone has not outstanding updates
- VPN removed
- finally, I just finished reseting / rebuilding my phone - same problem still exists with data and https
- I sent a private message to @Mary_M last night to see if she had any ideas. No response as of yet but I didn't expect a response that quickly
- Today I opened a ticket with Public Mobile
Thanks for the ideas. Banging my head against a wall with this one and because I am here in the US for only a week I really want to get this working ASAP. Thanks again!

Never seen this reported before. All I can offer is the long checklist below. If that fails think you will need moderator assistance. Send any one of them a private message ( @Mary_M for example) with your phone number and an explanation. Coverage is currently:
Mon-Thursday 9am(EST) to 9pm(EST) and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9am(EST) to 5:30pm(EST).
DATA NOT WORKING CHECKLIST
- connects with wifi?
- cellular data turned on?
- confirm data is included in your plan
- go to settings, then general-profile and make sure that there is no existing profile, if there is a profile delete it
- check network is not set to 2G; use auto, 3G, or LTE
- check for operating system updates
- data not used up?
- delete current APN, and re-enter settings
- toggle airplane mode off/on
- reset all network settings; you will need to add back wifi passwords after that.
- remove any VPNs
- remove sim for 5 minutes, then install and reboot
- try sim in another phone and a good sim in your phone
- phone make/model?
- if dual sim use LTE/3G slot
- LAST desperate measure when all else fails; erase all data and restore phone to factory settings
