I will be traveling  soon overseas , and the country I will be arriving require me to download an app that I must present my information when arriving at airport. Is Is possible to turn on phone and the app as well when I arrive?

Download the app and have everything set up before you leave Canada. Also consider downloading a voip app such as fongo or textnow. If you wish you can call forward you pm number while still in Canada to your voip number if you want to get your incoming pm calls to ring thru on your voip  number. You can change to the $15 plan to keep your costs low.

 

Once at the airport of your destination use the free wifi to access the required app. Once thru customs there will be options to purchase a local sim card or you can wait til you arrive near your accommodations to purchase a sim card and plan. This blog may help you with local sim cards...

Here are some options for your pm service....

  1. You can turn off autopay and allow the account to suspend at the of your current 30 day cycle but this is your least advantageous option. Pay and reactivate by day 85 or so.
  2. If you have an account balance that exceeds your plan amount then you need to suspend via the lost/stolen feature in your account before midnight eastern on the evening of your renewal. Then on day 85 or so resume your service to pay and reactivate.
  3. Suspending via lost/stolen before midnight eastern will keep your voicemail active allowing you retrieve voicemail and any verification sent by phone calls. However your rewards will not be applied to your account. Moderator/CSA contact after paying and reactivating is necessary to have the rewards applied manually.
  4. Voicemail can be accessed by calling your pm number from a different phone by calling your phone # and pressing * once connected and entering your 4 digit voicemail pin #.
  5. If you don't have an account balance or enough balance to cover your plan amount you can suspend via lost/stolen after midnight but before 2 am eastern on the day of your renewal. Once your rewards have been applied (usually by 12:15 am et) then suspend your account. Voicemail access will be lost.
  6. Switching to the $15 plan with rewards helping to cover a partial or full amount of your plan allows you to call forward your pm number to your fongo number  before you leave Canada.. Now any incoming calling to your pm number will ring thru to your fongo number while on wifi or mobile data (w/a local or global sim card) You can access your fongo voicemail for all voicemail messages.

Most important mark on your calendar day 85 of your suspension and day 90. Do not forget when you must unsuspend your account via lost/stolen and/or pay and reactivate your service so you don't lose your phone number and account. Happy travels and Stay--Safe!

Another option would be to:

  1. download the app while in Canada,
  2. go to the page(s) on the app that contain the documentation you may need to show,
  3. screenshot the page(s), 
  4. save it to your photos.

When you are at the location where you need to display them, bring up the items in your photo library to show what is needed.

Keep in mind that apps, photos, videos, music, etc... Storage on your phone are nothing to do with your carrier. However some apps(almost all of them) require internet connection so you can connect your phone on wifi because mobile data will not work due PM only provides roaming on US.

Outside of Canada, PM does provide service in US (with add-on) only.

If app requires internet access to present proof of vaccination or similar, most if not all airports have free WiFi so you can use that to access Internet.

@Missmylan  Most international airport has Wifi for free.  I think you should be good with that?

 

Which country you are going ?  PM only has US roaming and nowhere else.

 

However, many stores has local Data SIM available here in Canada.  You can buy from them ahead or some even have it on Amazon.  where you are going and I can try to search one for you.

@Missmylan , what country are you traveling to?  Public Mobile only offers roaming in the US and you have to buy an add-on to have cellular service in the US.
