Transferring your number to Public Mobile

Typically, you can move your number if:

 

  • It's an active mobile or landline number
  • We have service in that area
  • It's from a service provider in the same local calling area
  • Number Portability is available in that area 

Tips for moving to Public Mobile

 

  • Keep it live. Don't cancel your current service before switching to us. Your phone number must be active in order to move it
  • Have it at hand. Have your phone, an invoice from your current service provider and if possible, your service agreement handy when you move your number. Just to be safe, you should review your existing service agreement to find out what charges might apply
  • Don't delegate. Only the authorized account holder can transfer a number

Any mod will do. The messages go into a pool so they can all access them, since each one doesn't work everyday. Shaz or Marie are great 🙂

Sim number
Phone number you want to port
Account number with previous provider
Full name
Email address
Even though it doesn't sound like a failed port, that info could be useful.

Does your old sim still work? If so just keep using that for now. If the port was completed successfully your freedom sim would stop working.

Hello.  I ported over my account this evening from Freedom.  Activation seemed to go smoothly and I received the welcome email etc.  However, it has been over five hours and I still cannot make/receive calls or text messages.  Data also does not seem to be working.  It shows the network but when I try to navigate to a webpage etc. nothing happens.  Is this a normal wait time?  Thanks!

I think my port in is stuck in limbo.  When I call out, the other party can see that I am calling from the number that I am trying to port in, but when they try to call me, they are getting the voice mail from my old provider.

Yeah... Nothing yet. Waiting to hear back so I can provide them with my acct. Info.
The system shows still unread for the PM, even the one from last night...

You should hear something anytime now, I assure you. In the meantime, keep using your working freedom sim. Please try and be patient, mods are extremely busy due to the popularity of this promo.
When you contact a mod for a failed port, make sure you include:
Sim number
Phone number you want to port
Account number with Freedom
Email address
Full name

I'm having an issue with a port from Freedom Mobile.. My outgoing number has been ported, but incoming is still set up and working WITH Freedom!

Texting is also still going through freedom. Sent a pm to mods, but no reply. Also submitted a ticket and no reply (both last night)...

How does one have something like this resolved (a half done port)?

Sim number
Account number with previous carrier
Phone number you are trying to port
Just keep using your old sim until we figure this out.

Hi, 

 

this is the step i stuck, the next page was not displayed after i clicked continue button waiting for more than 20 minutes. i opened new page to try but the sim is not valid any more.

 

Please advice and help!

not yet. i did not get that step yet. i entered sim, personal info like address, passowrd etc then clicked activate the next page was not displayed maybe due to connection or other issue i stuck for a while.

Did you already enter any credit card details? You might have already activated the sim, that's why it's saying invalid

Hi,

I just tried to register account and transfer my freedem mobile wireless to public mobile. But it was unfortunately stuck at te middle. now when i try again, the i had invalid sim error now cannot go to next step at activate sim.

 

can any body give me any advice how should i proceed now?

I'm glad to hear that you've decided to make the switch to PM, but not so happy to hear about your port !

 

Just to clarify, ports from Speakout take about 2 to 3 business days to complete - and if all the information entered is valid, it should complete shortly. Please feel free to send me your phone number via private message and I'll check on the status of the port 🙂

I signed up for Public Mobile, paid, and ported my number last night, but my speak out account is still active and I can't use my PM account.

In order for me to look into it, could you please send me a private message with your SIM card number, the number you would like to port + the account number with your previous provider? 

 

Also, please make sure that your account with them is still active otherwise we won't be able to process the port request 🙂

Hello Public Mobile

This is my first post on these boards and I'm hoping one of the great mods can help me out.

 

I tried porting a landline number from Comwave to a recently activated PM sim card. I keep getting errors like wrong information.

 

Please let me know what information you require to port the number as there are no fields to enter certain information the website needs.

Thanks for letting us know about this! I'm sorry to hear you experienced issues while trying to port your number. 

 

What I would recommend is that you activate with a temporary phone number and then send me a private message with your temporary number, the number you would like to port + your account number with your old provider. I'll then send the port request for you!

 

Also, to make sure the port request can successfully complete, please make sure your current account with the other provider is still active.

Hi,

When I tried to change my phone number and chose

-Transfer a wireless or wireline number from Public Mobile or another provider 

After check for eligible then this message showed up.

"We are experiencing difficulties in processing this request. Please contact Public Mobile for additional assistance. "

 

What should I do now?

I started a port away from Rogers yesterday and my phone calls are still coming through my Rogers SIM. I'm a new PM customer.

 

Perhaps the port got stuck. Help?
