Transferring my number from bell to public -> does my existing sim continue to work?

Hello, I am transferring my number from Bell to Public Mobile. I want to keep my current number. My bell line/number is currently active with the sim in my phone.

When signing up for Public, do I order a new sim? Or after paying, do I request to transfer my number and the existing sim in my phone updates to public mobile? 

I am unclear whether I just keep my existing sim and it updates my number to public after I order, or I have to wait for a new sim from public. Thank you.

And after you transfer your number from bell to PM, your bell sim is useless and can't be reused if you want to go back to bell.

To have a service with PM you HAVE to purchase PM SIM.
Then you initiate porting from Bell - keep Bell SIM in your phone, reply yes to an authorization SMS. After that put PM SIM into phone and it should work.
Bell SIM will stop working and most likely will not be able to be reused.

bell sim is for bell only. You need a PM sim.

@iuhsDIUwhe - You order your SIM card, when it arrives, you can continue to the port.

Step 6 is porting from Bell. Step 5 is choosing between eSIM or ordering / entering in the Physical SIM card.

You will have to wait for the SIM card to arrive to port from Bell to Public Mobile. Your Bell SIM card will continue to work till you start the porting process.

I would suggest to not use the IMEI, but the Account number from Bell.

If you want the SIM card ASAP, go to any Mobile Klinik or Telus / Koodo store to buy one for $10. On Amazon it is $5.

If you go in store to buy one contact CS_Agent after activating for a refund of $10 because it is free online and in store if you contact CS_Agent.
