Hi everyone,
I recently moved to Public Mobile from Virgin. While on Virgin Mobile I could subscribe to the free twitter SMS service as mentioned in the following page.

And this page which mentions the short codes.

However after switching ot Public Mobile it seems that this doesn't work. I no longer recieve text updates from Twitter.
I would like to know how I could enable this?

I believe the Twitter SMS number 21212 does not work with PM. I have tried from several PM phones and it seems that this does not work. I think this is the same issue people are facing in the following thread.
As a workaround I believe the solution to this is to create a hook from Twitter to SMS using IFTTT (https://ifttt.com/discover) which seems to work great but IFTTT has a cap of 100 messages per month.

@will13am Thanks for the answer, however this is not the same issue. The user there is trying to get an sms from the two-factor authentication which means he's waiting to recieve and sms from Twitter in order to log in. The short code (21212) for getting alerts should work regardless of whether you logged in or not.
@Luddite: Thanks for the answer. But could you please test sending for example "Follow DriveBC_LM" to 21212. This should for example give you all tweets from @DriveBC_LM feed. You can test it with any twitter feed you like. You don't need to have an accout in twitter for this. Although your answer points to the short codes that thread doesn't say anything about whether it's working or not.

Here is a past discussion on text and Twitter. It seems like trying a couple of times solves the problem. I am not a user of this service myself and so I don't have any personal experience. I can only try to help by pulling up what may be relevant past discussions.
