Telephone number not connecting

Some, not all, telephone numbers do not connect ('no such number, please check and dial again') but do on other phones.  Why is this?

If you just finished a number port - you brought your phone number from another provider - then it will take a little time before it works properly. All the networks need to be updated with the change, it can take one or two business days.

Until then, you might have working local calling but all sorts of weird connection issues with calls to or from other local networks.

Dear Dunkman,

Thank you for your quick reply!  I should have mentioned that I not only tried dialling with and without the '1' prefix, but tried manually dialling rather than just tapping on the number.  I also tried shutting off the phone and restarting, to no avail.  Seems odd, since it isn't a problem with other numbers...

@WilliamC1

Maybe try add prefix 1 in front of the area code.

With the roll out of VoLTE, there have been recent report issues with talk.
