Switching to Public Mobile from Fido, while keeping my number

ioncoman

Hello,

me and my wife are both Fido customers, and would like to switch to Public Mobile, but not lose our numbers.

Can you please tell me what the exact steps are? Should I buy 2 SIM cards first?

Thank you,

Ion

@ioncoman  You will need the following:

  1. 2 active fido accounts and account numbers (or 1 shared  account with 2 phone numbers)
  2. 2 public mobile SIM cards
  3. 2 unlocked compatible w/ public mobile phones
  4. 2 separate emails ( or 1 email and 1 email alias)
  5. 2 referral codes ( 1 from a friend and 1 from the first account you activate)*
  6.  2 larger wallets for all the money you are going to save
  7.  2 big grins  (see above #6)

 * If you don't have the first referral code just private message someone here and ask to be their new friend and for their referral code (You get a $10 credit they get a $1 monthly reward.)

@ioncoman each account requires a SIM card  and a unique email address. Aliases are allowed. Here's 3 articles, they basically explain it all:

  1. What you require to activate https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/what-you-need-to-activate
  2. How to activate https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/activation-account-set-up
  3. How to port https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/choose-your-phone-number

This is a good starting place:

(Yes, you will need 2 sim cards)

https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-started

Then read this about porting:

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Announcements/Number-transfer-in-Self-Serve-impacted-...

Your plans with your previous provider will be closed automatically once the numbers have been ported. Do not close those accounts
