You can keep your old number or how does it work? Do you have to get a new phone number?

On the rare occasion a phone number can't be transferred because telus does not have an exchange in your area but this only happens in more sparsely populated areas. It can happen in Newfoundland and Labrador or certain parts of northwestern Ontario for example.
If you have a prepaid koodo or pc mobility account you must choose a temporary phone # first and contact customer support after activation to complete the transfer.
It is also recommended for home phone ports to choose a temporary phone # as these take up to 2 business days to complete. It is also my preference to always choose a temporary phone number to activate so as to not lose active service if there is an activation error or a stuck port.
However I have just learned if there is an esim activation error using a temporary number can be a disadvantage if easy access to a physical Sim card is not possible. This is because to complete the self serve account creation eversafe requires confirmation of a secondary verification code sent to the phone number via text message only. If the esim installation fails or is not offered then getting a new esim cannot be achieved without access to the self serve account. A physical Sim card is required to recieve the verification code.
Requesting porting and completing activation before authorization of the port request (but within the 90 minutes time limit) will allow the eversafe secondary verification code to be sent to the ported phone # while still on the active old provider Sim card to gain access to the self serve account to order a new esim.

Hello @Lympiridae
First, you want to check this link to make sure you can port over to Public Mobile.
https://secure.koodomobile.com/checktransfereligibilityparrot/default.do
You can usually port over about 90% of numbers out there. Some are locked depending on it's location.
If you're porting OUT of Public Mobile, you can do that as well. The other company must make the porting request but most important, you must make sure your PM account is active in order to port out.
Hope this helps.

hi @Lympiridae
just need to make sure your account with the old provider is still active and you know the account number, unless with some smaller carriers that do not use account number
Then you can choose to port/transfer your number during Subscription. But you can also choose new number first and request porting after. Just need to login My Account, Profile and click Transfer
